You are missing the most important player on the team... Wemby! How can you not list him as someone you would like to see on the team? I would expect Sharpe to play 1 or 2 games. I already booked my hotel reservations for the first weekend.
summer league is such a bad gauge though we kind of know what Mays can do. Knox could maybe use the work; so could Jabari. Badji is a huge mystery with a lot of vauge chatter about his impat
I dont see what Shaedon will gain by getting high usage reps in glorified rat ball. Would rather he be in a gym working on his handle or in workouts with Dame. Think he's had enough chances to get scouted as the top guy.
What if he spends between the end of the season and summer league working on his handle and defense and then tests it out for a game or two against competition? Seems like a decent option.
I'd hope Mays participates if for no other reason than a competent PG in summer league really kind of unlocks the rest of the team and in my opinion, allows for better evaluations of others. I know what Mays can do, but I think he might really help the others, including a new lottery pick, function in a more coherent system.
I think you'll see Shaedon for a game, maybe two. As mentioned above, his handle has room for improvement, and I suspect he'll work on that once the season ends and give it a test drive in Vegas. That's been the way the Blazers seem to have done it in the past, even with guys that sometimes played more than Sharpe. I don't expect high usage but I expect him to get a little run just to see where he is against live, different competition, then he'll turn it over to the guys that have been playing these last few games and our draft picks.
You are exactly right. I fully expect Sharpe to be working on stuff between April & July. In July he will practice with the squad & test out his progress in 1 or 2 games - then shut it down. There are a lot of players who do this... Just to name a few. Jaylen Brown -> Played 1,300 minutes as a rookie in '16-'17, then went to summer league in '17 and played 3 games. Josh Giddey -> Played 1,700 minutes as a rookie & then went to summer league for 2 games. Johnathan Kuminga -> Played 1,200 minutes & then went to summer league.
summer in Vegas? I was in Vegas for 4 days one summer and it was over 108 degrees every day. I sure didn't love the time I spent without AC
