as young as the Blazers has ever had? We expect so much so fast, I just wonder how high is the bar? or might we set it?
We set the bar last year at 41 wins. Prior to that the two teams in league history which were younger than us on opening day went for 15 and 16 wins respectively. Historically speaking, the Blazers last year are what you'd call an "outlier" in statistical analysis -- we had no business going .500.
While Shaq and Penny were the stars of that team, most of their other rotation players were in their late 20s or early 30s. Nobody in their top 11, other than Shaq and Penny was under 25. 1994-95 Orlando Magic, by minutes played: 1 Shaquille O'Neal - 22 2 Anfernee Hardaway - 23 3 Horace Grant - 29 4 Nick Anderson - 27 5 Donald Royal - 28 6 Brian Shaw - 28 7 Dennis Scott - 26 8 Anthony Bowie - 31 9 Anthony Avent - 25 10 Jeff Turner - 32 11 Tree Rollins - 39 And having Methuselah Tree Rollins on the roster killed all hope of being the youngest anything. Nope, but their two best players were also their two youngest - and they got to the finals sooner than most predicted. It made them seem younger than they were. BNM
