Call me sentimental, but if the team is really in need of somebody to fill that fifteenth roster spot and if he were actually available and ready to go ... Go get 'im KP! http://beyondthebeat.wordpress.com/2008/10/02/still-brian-grant/
when BG opted out of his contract with 4 years left at 8M per forcing the Blazers to either reup or lose him outright, any sentimental attachment I might have had for him flew out the window. It's been years since he was decent, and I really doubt he could beat out Ike for the 3rd string PF slot which comes with 48 minutes of sitting and clapping. No thanks STOMP
Agreed. While there are 2 wildly different versions why Grant wanted out of Portland, neither cast him in a good light.
I loved him when he was here, but come on, the dude has NOTHING left. He wouldn't even be considered a good practice banger. As the 15th guy I'd hope he'd either be 1-youthy 2-have upside 3-A big that can bang with Oden and Aldridge. I'd take Steven Hill at this point over Grant. He'd be great in the community, but we've already got 14 guys that can do that. This isn't like back in the day where we're sporting Rider, Wallace, Zbo, Strickland, or Bonzi. We've got the PR side covered with every single player on the roster already. Maybe someday he could come back and do what Duck did and just do community events and services, but not as a player.
Seems like it would be a gimmic if we bring him in. We don't need to take up roster spots with players who won't benefit us in the long run and lets face it, why would BG come to the blazers where he would never play, that was always one of his complaints.
