https://www.complex.com/sports/2019...r.com&utm_campaign=sportstw&utm_medium=social Fantastic article on Dame. Dude is the real deal.
Not to be a cynic, but what would Dame's tune be about loyalty if he were not offered his 4yr, 196 mil deal? Also: Quality of life? What?! The PNW is among the best places in the world to live and raise a family. It's safe, clean, cultural, progressive, and provides plenty of opportunity to move ahead, regardless of profession. This author needs to spend some time in other trash NBA cities before dissing the quality of life in PDX.
What would your attitude be if you were offered several Million dollars more to go with another team? Do you love living here that much? Realize that you could always retire here at a relatively young age with a shit pile of money. Look at Kevin Love.
The things that comprise a great quality of life to you and me aren't necessarily the same ingredients a 25-to-30-year-old multi-millionaire might seek.
From the POV of a stereotypical young black athlete, I think "quality of life" is a catch-all term for not being able to go to a strip club at 4am... and it's accurate when applied to PDX.
Playing devils advocate but there have been more than a few guys who have taken less money to go play for winners in the past few years.
Prolly a combination of factors but Kemba bolted the moment he realized he was not getting super maxed. He's had a lot less success than Dame with his team obviously.
Has he ever even hinted at another tune? Before contracts, after contracts, its always been the same. He more than deserves the benefit of the doubt by now. Come on. Hes had articles like this well before his extension.
I don't disagree, but just pointing out the obvious here and playing devil's advocate. As @DUB pointed out, loyalty is reciprocal.
