They are trying to make it more mainstream for some reason:

They are trying to make it mainstream because they are depraved individuals who fantasize about and sometimes even engage in such behavior. They see the walls closing in and people like Epstein and Weinstein being made examples of, so they are trying to cover their bases.

A lot of that makes sense.

Which one of those pearls should I be clutching?

(and no, I'm not defending the article, which I haven't read, and I'm firmly against anyone sexually abusing kids, just not seeing the outrage in any of that. Sexually abusing children is vile and needs to be stopped, if greater research and discussions helps with that I'm not seeing a problem.)

The original title was "What the public keeps on getting wrong about pedophilia".

Which implies that there is some kind of misunderstanding.

There isn't a misunderstanding. Pedos are freaks.

    Did you read the article?

I agree, pedos are freaks. But so are others who sexually molest kids. Stating that isn't normalizing pedophilia.

It was behind a paywall when I had free time this AM. I'll look at it and retort later....maybe.

I think normalization is mostly used to refer to increasing frequency more than an adjective for a person....one might say the Catholic Church has normalized pedo behavior for centuries without holding priests accountable and thus making it a huge list of abused children growing out of their system....any studies that can help address the issue should be welcomed....but we've normalized a lot of bullshit behavior .....I was trying to point out how age discrepancies differ around the world as to what the word means....there are many countries where 18 is not the age of consent so in their case....a teen younger than an 18 year old american teen may not be defined as a victim because it's legal there. I think 18 is a proper age for consent but it's not the same everywhere

In this instance, and not saying that was El Prez's motivation, the "outrage" over the article's title was to support the narrative that liberals and the "liberal media" support the molestation of children.
