Forget this loss. Focus on what is happening to this group of guys. Lillard is becoming a great all-around point guard. McCollum is on the verge of stardom. Plumlee could be the most underrated center in the league. Crabb is getting better and better. Aminu still has his best days ahead of him. Vonleah is still maturing. And so on. I like this team very much. Loads of potential, and it's just a matter of time before they figure it all out.
Portland is one wing scorer away from contending. The defense will grow organically with experience and time spent together.
Great post Binx. I like your comment about Lillard improving his all around game. I've been thinking about that recently after these past few games. He certainly has shown to be much more than a scoring threat. Aminu has been kind of disappointing for me so far, but as somebody (forgot who, sorry) stated the other day - it seems like he is being asked to do too much. I think this quote by @PCmor7 goes along with your post. It's definitely been a blast to watch so far, and I don't see that stopping any time soon.
Seriously I'm glad we blew it up and assembled this team. Their not that bad. A lot of potential. Although Lillard is a little too inefficient for my liking, it's better than nothing. Cj to me is more of a super 6th man scorer than starting 2 guard but hey atleast that spot is fairly covered. No one’s winning a ring against GSW anytime soon, the King gave them everything he had last year and was still beaten relatively handily, unless Curry’s ankle blows up like a New Years celebration they’re a lock. Neil with a top 5 pick this year will ace it, he has great eyes for talent.
Um the King had a 2-1 lead without Irving or Kevin Love. Love is back and Irving should be back. As good as the Warriors are playing, I would say Cleveland is the favorite this year. LeBron nearly beat the Warriors with Matthew Dellavedova as his sidekick for chrissakes.
I absolutely love the team and this is the opportunity a lot of these guys needed. We have so many young players that can get so much better and we have to super scorers one being an all star and one who has that type of potential in CJ. Now if we can somehow get at least a top 3 pick and even number 1... if possible.
The thing is there defense is getting better and to me a good will allow you win games on bad offense nights.
I've not been that impressed with Aminu. He'd be a good reserve if he learned to play within himself. Plumlee is looking better and better, but not sure if CJ is on the verge of stardom. More like Jason Terrydom.
Jason Terry is only 6'2, 185 lbs. CJ is 6'4, 200 lbs. One is a classic combo guard and the other seems to be a legit shooting guard. I'd be fine with CJ putting up Terry-like stats. Terry at his best was a 19-20ppg scorer, with a PER around 19, 48% from the floor and 44% from three. I would be THRILLED with those numbers. Those are max numbers compared to what Wes was doing.
A 5-10 record is pretty bad. That said I see the potential, we've just got to find that little extra bit of fuel and finish games. We are going in the right direction.
Our season long training camp is going probably just the way it should..the cream will rise to the top and the water will evaporate...addition by subtraction. There's not one guy on our roster that I dislike...can't remember a team like that in ages.
