In his last 296 minutes played, Meyers has yet to block a single shot.

The next time he records a block ought to warrant a parade down Broadway.

    Again:
    296 minutes
    ZERO blocks

Is it right to expect somebody with no sense of timing to be able to keep perfect 4/4 time on a drum set? I've come to expect that asking Meyers to time a block is about the same thing. His size really makes no difference in regards to the task. He's more likely to injure somebody running into them than block their drive to the basket.

Meyers Leonard has not blocked a shot in his last 296 minutes played. Among active big men, only Henry Ellenson (399 minutes) has a longer dry spell.

His 38 game streak without a block is the longest for a 7 footer since at least '00.

In the middle of a three game winning streak, do we really need a thread bashing and piling on a guy who isn't even playing?

Seriously, I know Meyer's is the forum's favorite whipping boy and an easy target, but this seems mean spirited and unnecessary.

He may not be blocking shots, but so far this season, he actually has a positive TPA. He's barely playing and not hurting the team when he does. To expect more than that from your 3rd string center doesn't seem very rational/reasonable?

IF Stotts gave a damn, he would let him play and instruct him to do what big men should do like defend...…... . Lately he's a bench expert.

You'd have a solid case if he were a 2nd/3rd year player.

However, he's not far from being a 10-year vet. This is beyond pathetic.

So you busted out a Meyers bashing thread during the second half of a game (which POR won) in which Meyers didn't even play.

Nothing you said in your first post or your reply to me is news to anybody. We all know all too well about Meyers' deficiencies. Creating yet another thread to remind us seems unnecessary and pointless. If you felt like bashing a guy who wasn't even playing, couldn't you have just piled onto one of the other Meyers bashing threads?

He's played in 5 out of 8 games for a grand total of 42 minutes. I guess it's supposed to be noteworthy that a guy who is known for his defensive deficiencies and hardly ever plays hasn't managed to block a shot in an average of a bit over 8 minutes a game? Zach is averaging 1.9 blocks per game in about 21 minutes and everyone is thrilled with that production. Meyers is never going to sniff those kinds of block stats, but it just shows that blocks aren't easily racked up even by a guy with good instincts like Zach. I guess it should be pointed out that Meyers did have a block in preseason against the Kings.

If we're relying on Meyers Leonard to block shots, we're fucked. He is passing the ball well and rebounding decently. Even thought he's only made 1 swish3, he has a TS% of .601. Most importantly, as I mentioned, he has a positive TPA. So, in his very limited minutes, he's not actually hurting the team. If you can get that out of your 3rd string center, you're probably doing pretty well.

Of course, he's overpaid and was a waste of a lottery pick, but we've beaten that into the ground. You can't go back in time and undraft him or unresign him. So, as long as the team is winning and his play isn't costing us wins, I'm fine with his play in his current role. In fact, so far, he's pretty much duplicating what he gave us in very limited minutes last year. He was a plus on offense (+6.13) and a minus on defense (-1.02), but overall had a positive TPA (5.11).

Why did Terry chew him out again? Oh yeah, because he can’t even do the one thing he’s evidently good at without thinking three times about it. Cherry picking some stats isn’t going to change that fact. That’s why his ass is parked on the bench. Again. He had a 300th chance, and blew it. Again.

As long as it doesn’t get personal, he deserves every bit of shit he gets. Don’t like it? Don’t open the thread?

I really stopped caring about Meyers years ago. It was the same with Oden (although obviously the disappointment was significantly worse) but at some point you just write them off and move on. We don't need to rehash the various ways that Meyers sucks. We know he sucks. We know that he will most likely always suck. Let's just move on.

I just don't get the vitriol. Yeah, he's got a bloated contract that his play doesn't merit thanks to Blazers management's decision to offer him the deal. Meyers may be a stiff, but he ain't stupid enough to turn down that contract. Would you? Meyers is on the Blazers' roster and as long as that's the case, I'm rooting for him to do as well as he can.

He has the worst contract in NBA. He's making around 10M per year. In years six, he didn't improve a fucking bit. I know he's our player, but fuck him, honestly. I would at least try to improve and defend, you don't have to be skillful player to defend.
