I actually think it is a culture / world-point of view issue.

Can anyone here tell what fans are supposed to be rooting for?
Are we rooting for a team? A player? A coach? The lines have blurred intentionally IMO over the years - so the crowed is broader.... But that comes with a price of quantity over quality.

Once the weight have shifted from a team oriented fanhood to All-stars fanhood - the essense of rooting for NBA related issues was watered down IMO.

Disclosure - I am here because of Deni.. so I represent a fan currently following a player career development, which is AN aspect of the game, but I do not have any NBA team I root for.
If you compare this to Europe and Euroleague teams - being a fan of a team has little to do with star players of the team - the team and coach are above the stars and fans root a follow the team preciesly because of these attributes.
Do note - Camara and Deni were both growing up as kids in these types of European Basketball fandom.. and I do believe it to be a major contributor for them being able to care so much for each minute they are on the floor..

Man, I hate Polish jokes. I remember when I was younger. I walked into a store and asked for a Polish sausage. The guy said oh you must be from Poland and I’m like dude if someone walked in here from and ordered a German bratwurst do you think they were from Germany? Someone walked in here and ordered a French pastry. Do you think they’d be from France? Someone walked in here and ordered a Cuban sandwich. Do you think they’d be Cuban? Why on earth would you think just because I ordered a Polish sausage that I’m from Poland. And the guy says well First of all this is a hardware store

when you blend the nba with the PBR bullriders circuit shot clock, you got mike d'antoni's wet dream. let the analytics guys/geeks do their thing with the results and it is welcome to todays nba. they should of kept the old hand check rule, "no crying in baseball/basketball", and award foul shots to the opposing team for flopping. the euro flop has had as big a negative impact as the three point shot IMHO. nothing irritates me more than watching a player crying to the ref while the other team takes advantage of the 5 on 4 to score on the other end of the court.
