    Damn. Wish we had him. Always liked Monty. Even when he was a player.

    It's not the official COY that he won. It's an award from the coaches' association.

    but he'll prolly get the official award soon enough.

    We had him as an assistant for quite a while and the Pelicans fired him as a head coach.

    I mean the coaches association award is probably more meaningful to Monty than the media one lol.

    When he left, so much got much worse so fast... you can really tell who was propping that coaching staff up.

    I think the same can be said for David Vanterpool when he left.

    Well his final season (2009-10), we lost in the first round. The next season, without him, we lost in the first round. We then missed the playoffs the next two years. I would argue, though, that dropoff was caused by losing Brandon Roy for most of the 10-11 season (and permanently after that), not an assistant coach.

    Much like I would argue the turnaround in PHX has been because of CP3, and not the coach.

    NBA= A players league.
    NCAA= Coaches league.
    Bill Russell once said "A coach in the NBA cannot win games for you, but he can lose games for you."
