Could it be we've overlooked San Antonio? Today's San Antonio - Memphis game should tell us. It would be weird if the playoff between 8 and 9 was between us and the Spurs...
I want Spurs to beat Memphis. We need to beat out Memphis for 8th. Winning twice in play in is too hard.
Right but the season ain’t over. Important that Memphis loses this long term. Spurs will lose other games, I think.
San Antonio will lose 5 of there next 6. That's going to happen. They aren't that good and they are playing a lot of good teams coming up. Beating Sac and Memphis is no great accomplishment.
538 has Memphis 33% , NOP 32%, and Portland 25% to make playoffs. Spurs considered a non factor at 5%. They’re a pretty mediocre team and their schedule is a lot tougher than Mem and NOP. A win today would have been humongous. We need to beat Houston, and I think we can.
I just don’t see us making it, we are a terrible defensive team, we have a slow 36 year old as our most viable player on the wing, and our schedule is hard.
We’re bad, but I don’t think we’re as bad defensively as it looked today. Imo Boston and Houston are extremely tough matchups for us. We should fare better against teams with more traditional 4 men. Obviously most 4 men these days are stretch 4’s, but guys like Tatum aren’t ordinary stretch 4’s. He looks like a Paul George in the making.
We literally can not defend three point shots, it’s been that way all season. There’s no real team defense being played, it’s all individual pieces, no cohesion. Like, what good is a blocked shot if no one boxes out and grabs the rebound? Or just funneling players into the paint only for a kick out or foul to occur. We need changes, big ones. Not having Ariza really sucks too, at least he would be an option to close out on shooters with length.
