A poll was done on their website asking which position was improved. I agree that their mid-fielder position got upgraded with new additions and experience. In 2008 the whole team had more attack with scoring goals compared to the 2007 squad. It will be interesting to see the addition to more Oregon State alumni and another Japanese players added.
The MLS expansion news for our Timbers will have more people at the gates. It will be interesting.
I miss Hugo(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Alcaraz-Cuellar) and Alvarez(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byron_Alvarez). Alvarez is still with his indoor professional squad http://laraza.com.mx/ which won the title last year. Both of these players were fan favorites as they hung out at the Bullpen (bar) behind PGE park after games.

The Timbers have a much deeper team this year. Should be a good season. Playoffs or bust!

    Wicks is now with D.C.
Thats impressive in itself. 150+ timber fans traveling up to Burnaby, BC.
    Some of the roster.

I agree the Timbers look (on paper) to be a greater in depth in many positions. However, their offense always sputters at times especially in the 2007 season. It was one of the worst seasons I had to even witness.

The Timbers now have Steve Cronin, the guy Wicks was backing up in LA.

The Timbers did really well in 2007, but sucked horribly in 2008, and came in last. Did you mean 08'? The offense wasn't that great in 2007, scoring goals mostly from dead ball situations and counter attacks, but the Timbers got results and made the semi finals that year.

I'm going there today (May, 2 against Carolina Railhawks) to check out the new squad and sit across the Timber Army perhaps. Or if my buddy is up to it, we will join the Timber Army!
Oh and I am also hoping that the Timbers score a goal too. 0-0 games are boring!
