AND Baldwin? You can see why Olshey might be tempted to let Baldwin go.

It would, of course, be a mistake, but his drafting of 2 guards and signing of 2 more has created this crunch.

Ideally we would play Turner most of his minutes at SF, give next to no minutes to Simons and Trent while they develop this year and NOT HAVE SIGNED STAUSKAS.

Trent is expected to get some minutes as a small forward and Turner is a small forward as well so that's only 5 guards which isn;t unreasonable.

Too many good players that can fix a problem. That sucks.

    For the other teams.

Play Stauskas/Trent at SF. Deal Turner/Swanigan for Noah/1st. Problem solved.

I see Stotts playing Curry and Nik like he did Bazz and Pat at the beginning of the season. At SF you still have Harkless and Turner in from of Trent. Trent only way to get minutes either beat out Nik or there a trade. I do believe by January that Trent will ahead of Nik.

I think they’re auditioning guards to maybe someday take CJ’s spot if they do a trade. None of them are expensive at this point either so if they don’t work out they don’t lose too much.

It seems like the reaction from the playoffs has been more shooters all we want is shooters. Let Ed walk basically because he wasn’t a shooter and all additions have basically been guys NO thinks can shoot.

we do have a lot of guards, would not mind bringing back Vonleh (UFA) really cheap as we are thin on decent bigs, would much rather have Noah than Caleb but we already have 16 guys. Caleb gets 1.7 mil this yr and then its a team option for 19/20, probably would not waive him because of cap situation, sure would rather have Vonleh

Im thinking Caleb can prove many wrong about his NBA skills.
Once he gets consistent minutes and learns to shoot over taller guys by using his body, he'll be just fine.
Plus he can stroke mid shot too. I always want a guy with the heart of a lion on the team!

I just don't see it, he's way too slow and gets stuffed all the time and appears a turnover machine - give me Vonleh back please

I don't think we have too many guards.

    PG: Dame/Baldwin/Simons (future)
    SG: CJ/Curry
    Wing: Stauskus/Trent

Plus, like The Tortured One said, we need to throw as many shooting guards/wings against the wall as we can, to see who sticks.

At least, I think that's what he said ;)

With how we ended last season, I would be shocked if we didn't make a significant move.

From a combination of comments by Olshey and Stotts, it appears that they (at least publicly) blame the poor playoff performance on lack of consistent outside shooting to open up space. This would be inline with their acquisition of several good, potential-high-volume shooters.

While I agree that could help, I hope that there is more that they saw than just lack of outside shooting. Would have been nice to have a starting guard who could have slowed down Holiday.

Just creates a new problem, as Noah caused a stink because he wasn't starting. Might do the same if traded here.

Isn't Evan Turner, with his role on the team and how much he's paid, part of that outside shooting problem?

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. I like ET as a guy, but sure would like to see him out of our lineup.

Olshey did elude to ET as the PG in the second unit and rounding him with more shooters. Would rather see WB as the PG surrounded by shooters.

We have a plethora of guards. Yes, lots of insurance if someone god forbid gets injured. Simons won't be expected to play much this season. Still, there are questions, who will get the Bazz minutes behind Lillard BIV or Curry? If its Curry do we keep BIV?

We'd have to waive PapaG who is the other expiring. If that happens and a big gets hurt we are screwed. We got Collins, Meyers, and Caleb on the bench. Hardly stacked. Not that keeping PapaG would help bolster that much. He isn't as goid as the hype has made him to be. He is young, but sunmer league has shown his true colors.

Back to the guards. We have CJ at the 2. Behind him do we play Stauskus, Turner, or will Curry get time at the 2 as well? Harkless at the 3. Turner and Trent Jr behind him? I think Trent Jr is going to show up this season and get most of the backup 3 minutes.

So the Blazers are backlogged between the 1 and 3 spots, and left wanting at the 4 and 5 bench wise. As is it will mostly be Nurk Collins and Aminu sharing most the minutes. Does Stotts dare give Meyers or Caleb minutes? Blazers need to trade for another big and try to get rid of at least Turner if not Meyers.
