BG should be weighing in on this (except he's on his way to Germany at the moment) but the wine country of Yamhill County is considered the optimal location to view the eclipse. Many if not most wineries have offered camping facilities and other amenities and are virtually sold out already. Those guys are making some serious bank on this.

I mean I'll just go to my parents house and maybe drive down on that morning, pull over and take a video of me when the eclispe happens. Don't give a shit about anything else tbh

I plan on staying out at my parents house while putting my apartment up for rent at a STEEP price, last minute. Hoping to get a big payday out of it.

Looks like you'd need to head to Salem to get in the path of the total eclipse.

Of course, I figure the sky will be only about 15% darker than it's been for the past 3 months under these fricking rain clouds, so what's the big deal?

    Great song.

Reminds me of "You Are The Wind Beneath My Anus".

Madras is capitalizing on this and the entire area has been booked up since last fall. People and astrology clubs coming from all over the world. Not many spots west of the cascades have the dark skies with clean air for optimal viewing. It's a 2 minute shadow made into a mega-tourism event. I imagine the emotional letdown afterwards will be hard for many. I am doing a 2-3 week road trip to BC and Alberta just before it so may stay away till after.

Yeah, around Dallas in optimum. We still live in the "premium" viewing so I plan to chill in my backyard, grilling and drinking. Several wineries are making bank by letting people camp on-site and making a huge event of it. Some are charging hundreds per person, and charging per-person rates, even if you are sharing a tent with others. It's cray cray.

I'm stoked about it, mainly because my employer gave us the day off so we don't have to battle the infestation of tourists that will be taking up the roads.

Heh, you're right. I must just be over-excited for my upcoming camping trip (after which point it will be less than a week away). Post now corrected. Please forgive my error.
