http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/heurelhogomes.html Heurelho Gomes Goalkeeper joined us from Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven in July, 2008. A Brazilian international, Gomes, as he prefers to be called, was an ever-present member of PSV's title-winning squad in 2007-08, when he conceded only 24 goals in 34 league games. He made his name at Cruzeiro in Brazil, debuting in 2002 before securing his move to Europe and PSV in 2004. Gomes won four Dutch titles in succession with PSV, reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2004-05. A tall, imposing keeper, Gomes is no stranger to Spurs fans - he was outstanding in our UEFA Cup Round of 16 matches against PSV last season. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th> </th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Heurelho Gomes</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born February 15, 1981</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Goalkeeper</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 1</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs July, 2008</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Cruzeiro, PSV</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/cesarsanchez.html Cesar Sanchez The Spaniard joined Zaragoza in 2005, making in excess of 100 appearances, having previously spent five years at Real Madrid where he earned a Champions League winners medal in 2002 after starting the final against Bayer Leverkusen. Cesar, 36, began his playing career with Real Valladolid, earning an international cap for his country against Germany in August, 2000. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th> </th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Cesar Sanchez</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born September 2, 1971</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Goalkeeper</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 21</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs August 2008</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Real Valladolid, Real Madrid, Real Zaragoza</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/alanhutton.html Alan Hutton A strong, attacking full-back, Alan arrived from Glasgow Rangers in January, 2008. Three games into his Spurs career and he was celebrating a first medal after our League Cup Final triumph against Chelsea - a record for any new player in terms of games played for that first medal! The Scottish international impressed in his first few months at the club during which time he made 15 appearances, 14 in the Premier League. Alan made his debut for Rangers as an 18-year-old in December, 2002 and went on to make 122 appearances for the SPL giants. Already a Scotland regular, Alan was in the side that just missed out on Euro 2008 qualification with a 2-1 loss against Italy in November, 2007. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>ALAN HUTTON INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Alan Hutton</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born November 30, 1984</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Defender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 2</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs January, 2008</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Glasgow Rangers</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/garethbale.html Gareth Bale Looked one of the captures of 2007-08 until injury cruelly ended his debut season early. Cardiff-born Gareth signed from Southampton in May, 2007. He made his debut against Millwall towards the end of the 2005-06 campaign and went on to be capped at Under-21 level before becoming the youngest ever Wales international when he came off the bench against Trinidad and Tobago in June, 2006. His first Welsh start came at White Hart Lane in September 2006 when Brazil provided the opposition and a first international goal quickly followed against Slovakia in a European Championship qualifier - making him the country's youngest goalscorer. Gareth made 45 appearances for Southampton, scoring five goals before his switch to the Lane. He made a fantastic start to his Spurs career with goals against Fulham, Arsenal and Middlesbrough before being laid low by a foot injury at Newcastle in October, 2007. Looked to he returning to his best when he damaged the same foot in a tackle against Birmingham in December, 2007 - an injury that kept him out for the rest of the campaign. He made 12 appearances in total in 2007-08, scoring three goals. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>GARETH BALE INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Gareth Bale</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born 16 July 1989</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Left-back</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 3</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs May 2007</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Southampton</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/gilberto.html Gilberto Brazilian international defender Gilberto joined us from German side Hertha Berlin in January, 2008. The left-back, who can also play on the left side of midfield, spent three and a half years in Germany where he made 101 appearances in the Bundesliga after joining from Sao Caetano in his homeland. A regular for his country, Gilberto was a member of the Brazil squads that won the 2004 and 2007 Copa America, as well as the Confederations Cup in 2005. He also featured in the 2006 World Cup and scored his first international goal against Japan. Gilberto, who actually played at the Lane for Brazil against Wales in September, 2006, made seven appearances for us at the end of the 2007-08 campaign, scoring once. He then travelled back to South America and found himself up against Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi in World Cup 2010 qualifiers in June, 2008. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>GILBERTO INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Gilberto</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born April 25, 1976</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Defender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 11</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs January 2008</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Sao Caetano (Brazil), Hertha Berlin</td></tr></tbody></table>
Gilberto wasn't a great signing considering that they already have Bale. The wonderkid is going to be fantastic.
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/chrisgunter.html Chris Gunter Highly-rated young Welsh defender joined us from Cardiff City in January, 2008. Made his debut for the Bluebirds in the League Cup aged just 17 in August, 2006 and his performances in 17 matches earned a full Welsh cap against New Zealand in May, 2007. Further caps followed in European Championship qualifiers against Republic of Ireland and Germany before his switch to Spurs. Chris was soon called up for his debut in the FA Cup third round replay win at Reading and made four appearances for us in the second half of 2007-08, including facing his Welsh hero Ryan Giggs at Old Trafford. The full-back maintained his form and fitness with six appearances for our reserve team towards the end of the season before turning out for Wales Under-21s in a friendly against England in May, 2008. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>CHRIS GUNTER INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Chris Gunter</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born Newport, July 21, 1989</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Defender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 16</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs January, 2008</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Cardiff City</td></tr></tbody></table>
You'll definitely have to help me out on that kind of stuff. I'm just trying to get the basics down of who is on the team, who normally starts and what configuration they play.
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/michaeldawson.html Michael Dawson Our Mr Consistency in 2006-07, injuries hit the popular central defender in 2007-08 and he faced the heartbreak of sitting out the League Cup Final at Wembley with a hamstring problem. An ankle injury on the eve of the big kick-off at Sunderland ruled him out for a month and the later hamstring injury arrived at the worst possible time, just 15 days before the Wembley showpiece. Nevertheless, Michael made 40 appearances out of 57 - with no less than eight different central defensive partners! Michael made his name at Nottingham Forest, where he progressed through the ranks to make his debut in 2002 and 91 appearances in total before joining us alongside Forest team-mate Andy Reid in January, 2005. Recovered from a stress fracture of the shin to play six times that season - his debut at Anfield - before catching the eye alongside Ledley King in 2005-06. He made 33 appearances that season and his displays earned a late call as stand-by for England's 2006 World Cup squad. Michael featured in 57 of 59 games in 2006-07 and partnered Ledley for England B against Albania at the end of that season. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>MICHAEL DAWSON INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Michael Dawson</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born 18 November 1983</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Defender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 20 </td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs 31 January 2005</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Nottingham Forest</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/vedrancorluka.html Vedran Corluka The defender is an Croatian international team-mate of Luka Modric and played in every match of his country's campaign at Euro 2008, where they reached the quarter-final stage. Vedran came through the ranks at Dynamo Zagreb and after a season on loan at NK Inter Zapresic, won successive titles with Dynamo in 2006 and 2007. He left for the Premier League and Manchester City in August 2007, where he featured at right-back, centre-back and in midfield, making 41 appearances in all competitions. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>VEDRAN ĆORLUKA INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Vedran Ćorluka</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born February 5, 1986</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Defender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 22</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs September 2008</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Manchester City, Inter Zaprešić, Dinamo Zagreb</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/ledleyking.html Ledley King The longest-serving member of our playing staff and captain of the side, Ledley achieved every boy's dream when he lifted the League Cup at Wembley in February, 2008. Well-documented injury problems restricted the central defender to 10 appearances in 2007-08 but his performances remained as impressive as ever, not least alongside matchwinner Jonathan Woodgate in that Wembley triumph. Signed as a Trainee in July 1997, Ledley progressed through the ranks to make his first-team debut as a half-time substitute in a 3-2 defeat away to Liverpool in May 1999. Scored his first goal for us in a 3-3 draw at Bradford City in December 2000 when he set a new Premier League record by scoring after just 10 seconds. A member of England's Euro 2004 squad, Ledley caught the eye on a national scale with his performance against France in the opening match. Went on to play in all 38 Premier League games in 2004-05 and 27 matches in 2005-06 before a broken fourth metatarsal against Everton on April 15, 2006 robbed us of his services and ultimately cost him his place in England's 2006 World Cup squad. Ledley missed a big chunk of 2006-07 with a foot injury, but was able to return to the side for the last month of the season and helped ensure UEFA Cup qualification for the second season running. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>LEDLEY KING INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Ledley King</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born 12 October 1980</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Defender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 26 </td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs 20 July 1998</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) None</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/benoitassouekotto.html Benoit Assou Ekotto Injury again restricted Benoit's appearances in 2007-08. The full-back joined us from Lens for the 2006-07 campaign and made a promising start with 24 appearances before suffering a knee injury in February, 2007 that ultimately ruled him out of the season. Returned in September but after two appearances, the same knee problem resurfaced and ended his campaign early. Born in Arras, France, Benoit's performances in 2005-06 saw him labelled as one of the most highly-rated full-backs in Le Championnat. Kicking-off that season in the Inter Toto Cup on July 3, he played in all of Lens' games as they won that tournament and therefore secured a place in the UEFA Cup. He then played in seven of eight UEFA Cup matches as Lens went out to Udinese in the last 32. After breaking into the first team with three appearances in 2003-04, Benoit caught the eye with 29 starts in 2004-05. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>BENOIT ASSOU EKOTTO INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Benoit Assou Ekotto</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born 24 March 1984</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Left-back</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 32</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs June 2006</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) RC Lens</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/jonathanwoodgate.html Jonathan Woodgate England international secured 'hero' status just five games into his Spurs career when he headed home our winning goal in the League Cup Final at Wembley in February, 2008. 'Woody' was awarded the man of the match for his performance against Chelsea on that memorable afternoon. The central defender impressed in his first few months at the club after joining from Middlesbrough in January, 2008, making 17 appearances and scoring twice - both against Chelsea! Shot to prominence as a young defender in the Leeds United side that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2001, prompting Newcastle United to snap him up in January, 2003. Moved to La Liga giants Real Madrid but his appearances were restricted by injury. Switched back to the Premier League and his home-town team Middlesbrough initially on loan in August, 2006 before the move was made permanent in April, 2007. Back to his best since then and performances rewarded by a seventh England cap in the friendly against Trinidad & Tobago in June, 2008. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>JONATHAN WOODGATE INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Jonathan Woodgate</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born January 21, 1980</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Defender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 39</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs January, 2008</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Leeds United, Newcastle, Real Madrid, Middlesbrough</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/didierzokora.html Didier Zokora Athletic, combative midfielder was the only player to start all of our 10 UEFA Cup games in 2007-08. Didier made 43 appearances in all competitions in total in 2007-08 before jetting off for World Cup 2010 qualifiers with the Ivory Coast. Indeed, he finished a long season in style with a goal against Botswana in Abidjan on June 22, 2008. A graduate of the ASEC Abidjan Academy that has developed many of the current generation of Ivory Coast internationals, Didier joined RC Genk of Belgium in 2000 and was a member of their title winning team of 2002. After four years in Belgium he made the switch to France and went on to make 66 appearances for St Etienne, quickly becoming recognised as one of the leading midfield talents in Le Championnat. Didier joined us after some fine displays in the 2006 World Cup in the extremely tough Group C which also featured Argentina and Holland. He made quite an impression over the course of his first season, where he made 42 appearances and became something of a crowd favourite and built on that with one more appearance in 2007-08. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>DIDIER ZOKORA INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Didier Zokora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born December 14, 1980</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Midfielder</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 4</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs July 2006</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) ASEC Abidjal, RC Genk, St Etienne</td></tr></tbody></table>

David is a product of the academy at Arsenal and made nine first-team appearances for the Gunners, spending a season on-loan at Norwich City during his time there. The 23-year-old has now won six senior England caps after previously representing his country at B, Under-21 and Under-20 level. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th> </th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name David Bentley</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born August 27, 1984</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Midfielder</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 5</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs July, 2008</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Arsenal, Norwich (loan), Blackburn</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/tomhuddlestone.html Tom Huddlestone Stylish midfielder achieved his personal goals for 2007-08 with more appearances and one more goal than the previous season. Tom made 43 appearances in all competitions including starting seven of our 10 matches in the UEFA Cup. He scored four goals and played a huge part in our League Cup win at Wembley - coming on as substitute and forcing Wayne Bridge into the handball for the penalty that brought us back into the game. His performances earned a call into Fabio Capello's full England squad for the friendlies against USA and Trinidad & Tobago in the summer of 2008. A product of Derby County's Academy, Tom made his debut aged just 16 in August, 2003 and went on to make 95 appearances for the Rams. He signed for us in January, 2005 but was allowed to continue playing for Derby before joining us in July, 2005. Enjoyed a successful loan spell at Wolves in October, 2005 and made his first team debut against Fulham in January, 2006 before finally securing a regular place in the side in the 2006-07 season, making 35 appearances. A regular England youth international, Tom has represented his country at Under-15 level through to Under-21s and is one of the most experienced players in the current U21 squad - earning his 26th cap and scoring against Wales in May, 2008. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>TOM HUDDLESTONE INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Tom Huddlestone</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born 28 December 1986</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Defender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 6</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs 1 July 2005</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Derby County</td></tr></tbody></table>
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/first_team/aaronlennon.html Aaron Lennon Lightning winger featured in 47 of our 57 matches in all competitions in the 2007-08 season. The highlights arguably came in our League Cup triumph when he drilled home the fourth goal in the 5-1 semi-final win against Arsenal before his promptings led to both goals in the final against Chelsea - his cross was eventually handled by Wayne Bridge for the penalty and he was fouled for the free-kick that Jonathan Woodgate headed home in extra time. Aaron joined us from Leeds United in July, 2005 and was one of the finds of the 2005-06 season. He capped a storming campaign for us by claiming a place in England's 2006 World Cup squad and played in three games in Germany. In joining Spurs, Aaron returned to the scene where he made history - he became the youngest Premier League player ever after coming off the bench for Leeds against us at White Hart Lane in August 2003 for his senior debut aged 16 years and 129 days old. He made his debut for us against Chelsea in August, 2006, his full debut against Liverpool and followed up with a man of the match display against Fulham in front of the Sky cameras. That form earned a call to England U21s and he responded with another Sky man of the match award against Austria in October. Aaron went on to make 29 appearances for us in 2005-06, including 22 starts. He also netted his first goals, crucial strikes against Birmingham and Bolton as we pushed for fourth place, eventually finishing fifth and back in the UEFA Cup. Aaron went on to bolster his Premier League experience in 2006-07 with 24 appearances in a total of 43 matches in all competitions, netting five goals including the winner against Chelsea at the Lane in November, 2006. <table summary="Centres" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr align="left"> <th>AARON LENNON INFO</th> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Name Aaron Lennon</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Born 16 April 1987</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Position Attacking Midfielder</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Squad No. 25</td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Joined Spurs 1 July 2005</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous Club(s) Leeds United</td></tr></tbody></table>
