With less than 2 weeks to go, rumors are starting to heat up around many teams. Portland is rumored to be shopping Hart (openly) and Nurkic (not as openly) and listening to anyone else not named Damian Lillard. It would take a haul to get Simons, Sharpe or Grant moved, but they aren't listed as completely untouchable. But it takes two to tango. While there are several contending teams rumored to be in the market for someone like Hart, the market is much smaller for big Nurk. Anyone else outside of the untouchable and almost untouchables, won't bring very much and there is the Lux Tax that Portland is nudged right up against to consider as well. What is the most likely deal? Who comes back? And is it a trade for now, or to set us up better for another move this Summer?
Personally I don't like mega threads. I don't want to have to scroll through pages for updates or important topics.
Better players with far more potential (and much less salary) is what they will tell us. Got to start chipping away at cap space to sign Grant.
IIRC, it was Marang who implied that Nurkic's contract was the right size for being able to trade it later. [Too small and too many players have to go out. Too large and no one trades for him.] That's what I got, at least. The most common complaint was about the 5th year. Doing a craptastic-Olsheysian-move is the worst outcome. Less bad is doing nothing by the trade deadline. Doing nothing of substance to fix the roster -- by the end of next summer -- is not an option. Because I have hope regarding Cronin ... Two trades but not blockbuster or involving Dame, Ant, Grant, or Sharpe.
https://www.blazersedge.com/platfor...a-available-portland-trail-blazers-interested Magic Making Mo Bamba Available in Trade; Blazers Interested? Mo Bamba could be on his way out of Orlando by the trade deadline. Could he join the Blazers? Bamba is getting crowded out by a group of more valuable big men. Those three cornerstones all take minutes away from Bamba, and now that Jonathan Isaac is back on the floor, Orlando simply doesn’t need a backup center making eight figures. Bamba’s combination of shooting and rim protection should make him a viable starter for someone else, though, so the Magic won’t have any trouble finding a trade if they really do want to move on.
I think many Blazers fans think this trade deadline will have as much to do with cap room now or in the future, as it does with basketball.
I think at least 3 players are moved and not all for players coming back...I think a bottom feeder will be moved 2nd rd picks for cap space and Hart and Nurk might have new homes....G Brown might get moved for roster spots and wiggle room. If they swing for the fences they'll move Ant and Nurk but they probably won't do that. Ant will bring back the best player in a trade if only for his scoring ability. Ant is an Orlando native and his family is there ...he'd own that town as the pt guard ...if we could move Ant there I'm sure he'd love it. Nurk has a house in Miami...he would love to play for th Heat
We already have a free roster spot and if we move more guys than we have coming back we will have to fill those spots immediately because we're at the minimum right now.
I don't think he'll let Hart walk for nothing and I think we're going to give the bag to Grant this summer...yeah, I think they will make a run while Dame is hot ...
