Less than two weeks to go. Team plays two more games before the deadline. Let's hear your predictions, not only for Portland, but for other teams as well. See if anyone gets anything right. I'll start Portland will trade the Cleveland pick and two of Leonard, Davis, and Ezeli.
They will do something. If they can't get a quality big man, they will probably just help facilitate trades and pick up some 2nd round picks. Send out Napier to the Cavs for example.
I feel like it would be a missed opportunity to do nothing with so many bigs available. In the offseason everyone is looking to make moves. Have to take advantage of situations like these.
Agree 100%... it is rare to have so many big men on the market... what a blown opportunity by Neil if he does nothing. Can't afford to wait til off-season. Especially when you hear Philly almost traded Okafor for Pelicans 2018 pick... Blazers can and should beat that by offering both firsts... they will not draft a better prospect than Okafor with those picks
For once I'd like to use our picks in the draft...if we trade it'll be a bench player for a bench player from another under achieving team I'd say.
I'm not an Okafor fan, but we could probably have him for one lottery protected first. That seems like solid value, even if I'm not a fan of the guy.
There's too much work to do to wait until the summer. We know exactly what we have now, and it's not acceptable. Make moves now and also be involved during the summer and draft. Got to be opportunistic to dig out of the hole they are in.
I really hope they put any thoughts of building through the draft out of their heads. The first step to "crappy roster recovery" is admitting you have a problem. Trying to fix these roster issues in the draft is like trying to fix a failing bridge with duct tape.
agree, he "might" be ok if gotten very cheaply and a 21/22 yrs of age is aready havin knee issues, I'd pass and go after someone like Nurkic or if available a guy like Vucevic
Whatever it is, just have a plan. Either go full on rebuild or try to win. None of this halfway, wait and see bullshit. Just don't trade picks. This draft is loaded.
Due to our crazy cap situation, like it or not, the best option Olshey now has to improve this team's talent level is through the draft. I do not see other GM's stepping up to help Olshey trade out of the mess he got himself into. But the GMs are lined-up to take advantage of Olshey if they can. My prediction, no trade.
I don't think there will be a significant trade. An around-the-edges deal, like last year's Varejao affair, is certainly possible.
