Wojo says Bulls are talking with Knicks -- Thomas and Jerome James for Al Harrington. I'd give them Outlaw and Blake for him in a heartbeat. Too bad Outlaw is on the shelf and they have no need for Blake. Harrington is actually a fairly serviceable player, and is an expiring just the same. Thomas could be the backup 4 we need, he's also a restricted FA this summer, so we would hold all the cards with him. What would it take? (Maybe some combination with Deng/Kirk?)
It would seem that the whole point behind Chicago trading Thomas is because they want some more fire power. Harrington can still score in this league, so I don't think the Bulls would trade Thomas for an injured Outlaw and a failing Blake. I like the idea of adding Thomas though. He's a decent spark plug off the bench. It would be great if we could work something out.
Yup. I suspect we would have to include Rudy, but we wouldn't do that without them including Deng (or maybe not even then), which in turn I don't see them doing.
They had discussed a Deng for Rudy swap on the Bulls forum not that long ago. Yes, I wouldn't trade Rudy for Thomas. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yjynjhz I would do that. Rose Rudy Salmons Thomas Przybilla Portland has a lineup of Blake/Miller Roy/Bayless Deng/Webster LMA/Noah Oden/Noah
I don't see how a Tyrus to the Blazers deal would work out for the Bulls if it didn't include Rudy. Even then, it would leave us woefully short-handed up front. So it seems to me that it'd be a hard thing to pull off. If we combine Tyrus + Deng, we in some ways make that problem worse, because Deng plays the 4 for us as well. And while I'd like to trade Deng, I don't think the Bulls are up for it. Trading Tyrus for Harrington, however, seems like exactly the sort of move the Bulls would make.
Tyrus Thomas just doesn't make much sense for us so long as Nate is our coach. He seems best suited for a running game, which is indeed why D'Antoni is supposed to be interested.
Why do we assume that if two other teams are talking a trade, we can just butt in and offer something and get the player? lol
Who assumed we can just butt in and get him? I don't think it's particularly realistic, but the fact they are talking means he's available and he's a player many here think could fill a void for us. Besides... wtf else is there to talk about till tomorrow?
I like it best whn we butt in and offer something they don't necessarily need or want. Outlaw and Blake to Chicago? Because they need Blake for what? And Outlaw isn't playing. I'm sure they'll go for that. 3rd string PG and an injured SF.
I don't know if you've noticed, but Thomas isn't playing either. And what's valuable about both Blake and Outlaw is that their contracts are expiring. Now, so is Thomas's, but sometimes teams will trade expiring players just to get them away from their teams. Supposedly that's currently the case with McGrady, and Thomas isn't exactly known as a lockerroom asset.
I thought Tyrus Thomas was hurt. I think Al Harrington would be a pretty good SF type. Although his number are inflated right now because he is on a bad running team.
LOL! I venture to guess that would be a deal breaker for them. Maybe Lindsay Hunter? But we would have to throw in Greg.
Why would we want Tyrus "Outlaw but with out a jumper" Thomas? I sort of doubt getting that dude would make much difference for Portland one way or the other.
