I listened to this and I did like the sense that we don't need to rush into a trade just because we are not playing well. Many of us are all calling for a trade to happen, myself included, but it definitely needs to be a good long term trade.
Just few days ago I would say it's bollocks, but what I found out is it wasn't losing games made me angry as such. It was lack of respect for the game and for the fans. After Aminu's angry dunks and "muscle tweets I'm back to normal. I mean. I loved this team last season (like most of us) and started to hate them this season. As long as they showing some passion I can give them some patience. Or maybe I'm just a giraffe on "I'm ok with it" stage.
Probably has more to do with the team's effort to take away easy buckets, but by doing so, we're leaving shooters wide open on the perimeter. Plumlee has improved his rim protection however.
Here are the Blazer's defensive shooting % by distance. The red number is the ranking. Terry Stotts's scheme works.....we allow low % at the rim and a ton of shots from midrange (at a pretty bad %). The real kicker is that we're terrible defending 3s. 30th in the league at 40% and a good 2.5% over number 29th. This is just terrible. Guys are not contesting shots at all.
Seeing our proficiency at the rim is shocking to me. But im guessing our team and staff are aware of this. Guys gotta start selling out on those closeouts. Although it does seem like we foul a ton of 3pt shooters. Maybe theyre trying, but just not with intelligence
Last year teams also shot 2.5% on uncontested 3's against us then they did against the next worst team. Teams see us and it doesn't matter if they can't shoot 3's they can against u s.
Good stuff. They touched on a lot of topics we discuss, including contracts, which players most likely to be traded or not, and defense. Could not find any glaring holes in their analogy, and agree with them. Bottom-line, they preached patience in Portland.
it was eerily close to what gets discussed here, along with a few WTF elements like the rim protection thing and also how well dame and cj score together, then often struggle apart - but are a huge defensive hole for us on the flipside. id also never thought about it, but is dame really 6'3" ? seems generous the turner and crabbe contract talk was interesting with a more long term view, but again as we've been through, how long can waiting for it to bake be a thing?
