    The Chris Woodward era with the Rangers had an ignominious beginning on Saturday: a 9-1 loss to Kansas City in the exhibition opener.

    “I’m the worst manager in history,’’ Woodward jokingly said.

    The performances of right-handers Jonathan Hernandez and Ariel Jurado were the most significant takeaways from the loss. Hernandez and Jurado, both considered part of the Rangers’ pitching future, combined to allow five runs and seven base-runners in 2 1/3 innings.
