With the Wade Baldwin experiment looking promising, I was wondering who might be good targets for a two-way contract this season. I thought the Blazers approached it right last year in picking up a guy who was a mid-first-round pick and giving him new life with a change of scenery. I think that might be the way to go again. Are there any recent first-round picks that anyone can think of who might be worth rolling the dice on this year?
Looking at the last two drafts, one name I saw was a 1st round pick in 2016 that is a free agent: Brice Johnson He might be worth a look if he would accept a 2-way and is a position of need for possible depth throughout the season. Just looking at some other free agents that are eligible: Kadeem Allen Joel Bolomboy Chris Boucher Alec Peters Marshall Plumlee Gary Payton II Paul Zipser There are lots more those are just some of the names that jumped out. I'm not sure if any of them would accept a 2-way contract though.
Most likely will wait until after rosters are paired down. I would think players will also wait a bit to see if they can make a roster somewhere as once they are signed to a two way contract they are somewhat locked in.
spurs game was on before blazers in summer league, bolomboy looked very solid if undersized as a stretch 4. confident out to the 3pt line and aggressive on the boards and defensive end. didn't he go to dame's alma marta too?
Bolomboy is a fellow Dame alumni so there's that. Brice Johnson was so far away from what he did in college when he would explode on some nights.
Certainly could fit a need. Looks like he could play 4/5. A bit light, but good enough for a backup. His numbers look solid.
Yes please. Last winter I mentioned a couple of times that I thought we ought to sign Woods out of the D-league to our roster. He'd be a much needed bench big & much more productive than Swainagan will be.
