The Orlando Magic have found their starting point guard, reaching an agreement with free agent Tyronn Lue on Friday. NBA sources said the deal for Lue, a five-year veteran, is worth $3 million over two years. Lue will sign the contract early next week. The Magic had only the $1.5 million veteran's exception to offer him. The length of the contract had been holding up its completion, as Lue wanted three years. Lue, 26, played last season with the Washington Wizards, averaging 8.6 points and 3.5 assists per game as a reserve. It will be his first chance to be a starter in the NBA, although the Magic expect, Reece Gaines, their first-round draft pick, to eventually take over at point guard. Lue is a shade under 6-feet, but is known for his defensive energy and pass-first mentality. Also on Friday, Gaines signed a three-year contract worth $3.15 million. The Magic had released Jacque Vaughn, their starter at point guard last season, and had courted free agents Antonio Daniels and Speedy Claxton as well as Lue. The Magic want to re-sign point guard Darrell Armstrong, but have balked at his contract demands. Sources say Armstrong is asking for a three-year deal for $12 million --- more than the Magic want to invest in the popular 35-year-old. good signing i guess.
Not a bad signing..although he really is not a starting PG...a great back-up but not sure on him starting...but he will replace armstrong well
we really should resign armstrong, but it seems like he's being a dummy and not even negotiating with us.
Last i heard DA is coming to Texas...and will replace Speedy Claxton as the Spurs back-up point guard...
yeah, i hope he can be productive as a starter for a little bit, i hope we throw gaines into the starting role immediately, then lue will come in and bring the defensive intensity that we desperately need. btw pirates was a great movie.

hopefully gaines will start over lue, but it looks as though lue will start the beginning of the season, unless gaines plays great in the preseason.
a lot of teams should want darell's heart and hustle, give up his body to win attitude, i just wish he would resign with the magic.

we have officially signed lue and darell is officially leaving, i agree lue should be our backup behind gaines, let our pg of the future show what he can do.
