What a great hire. They're gonna win immediately. I was really hoping he would've gone to Florida... http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...rning-college-football-head-coach-ucla-bruins
I loved Chip at Oregon, but the NCAA FB world has done a lot of catching up since the days he started the light-speed offense. He's still a great hire, but I'm not sure that it's a lock that he instantly makes UCLA that much better. The real difference-making distinction today is the ability to recruit. Chip's name recognition will draw some talent, but he mainly won at UO on the strength of his offensive gamesmanship. He never struck me as much of a schmoozer.
Chip is not a great recruiter and the rest of the world has caught up to his gimmicky offense. Plus the conference is super competative. Not the trash heap it was when he left. He'll still be worth 7-8 wins though. Nobody but maybe Petersen makes better in game adjustments in the Pac-12.
