Imagine you are Max Holloway. 8-fight winning streak. McGregor gets his shot first, wins the title, and bolts. Aldo/Edgar announced for the interim belt. Legit chance the winner fights McGregor in New York in the springtime. What do you do? Do you take a fight with Chad Mendes or Ricardo Lamas? Do you wait potentially a year for your shot? Sucks.

Feels like having two five-round fights on this card is enough (especially since Aldo/Edgar going the distance seems a safe bet). They might save RDA/Tate/Lawler for subsequent events.

I feel as if the UFC really dropped the belt with this event. How do you have an interim title fight as the co main event when in reality it is a rematch for the #1 contender spot. This interim belt shit is stupid.

Conor and Nate? Enough has been said. The fact that the UFC didn't force McGregor to take the fight at 155 is a joke. He really does own them. He says dance, Dana says Samba or salsa.

I can't believe Lawler isn't on this card. And Hendricks on the prelims? Damn, he's fallen, too. I wonder what the other fight on the card is going to be? GSP? Whats out there speeds?

According to a company official, the co-main event still has not been confirmed. That would mean the interim title bout between Aldo and Edgar will likely be no higher than third-from-the-top on a card that is being hyped by the promotion and fans as a landmark event.

“When this card is finished being announced … minds will be blown,” UFC president Dana White said in a text message to Postmedia.

Okay, so the co-main event isn't set. This means we are getting another fight and its likely to be a 5 round title fight...so we've got three 5 round matches on the card. I imagine its going to be a barn burner due to the possible length of this PPV. I'm going to guess one of the following two: GSP/Lawler or Lawler/Condit II.

If my mind is going to be blown, its going to be GSP / Lawler.

    Maybe?

Everyone is saying Ronda is busy and won't be back until the winter (if she returns).

Is Tate/Holm 2 or Tate/Nunes a "mind-blowing" co-main? Seems unlikely. Maybe they are going to do that at UFC 201 or something.

I don't see GSP returning. I feel like if he was getting ready to come back he'd be starting camp right now. This event is three months away. I don't think they could keep that a secret.

The availability list is kind of short. RDA is waiting for Nurmagomedov/Ferguson to shake out. The top FBW contender is unclear as Nunes seems the next challenger but the UFC's obsession with rematches means Tate/Holm 2 sounds more likely.

    Others from the rankings list...

    Joe Benavidez

    Aljo Sterling
    Raphael Assuncao
    Michael McDonald

    Chad Mendes
    Max Holloway
    Ricardo Lamas
    Cub Swanson
    Dennis Bermudez

    RDA
    Eddie Alvarez
    Michael Johnson
    Al Iaquinta
Gil Melendez (his suspension should be up around this time I think)
    Ross Pearson

    Robbie Lawler
    Ty Woodley
    Carlos Condit
    Neil Magny

    Michael Bisping
    Tim Kennedy

    Rumble Johnson
    Alex Gustafsson
    Ryan Bader

    Jimi Manuwa

    Hunto
    Josh Barnett
    Frank Mir
    Roy Nelson

    Thug Rose

    Tate

McGregor's coach John Kavanagh says that, despite what has come out recently, the UFC insisted on the fight being contested at 170-lbs.

    The fuck?

Uh oh...is DFW gonna counter this? Is he going to trash McGoat's manager? Conflict of interest with the Don arising!

I really thought the fight should have been at 155. I believe Kavanagh over the UFC. DFW probably still hopes he can market McGoat as a 3 division fighter.

In fairness this card is fucking weird but still shaping up to be a good one. Not quite as good as 198 but we're pretty spoiled right now.

The popular opinion is they are using event posters to count down so GSP's picture is incidental. Tomorrow will be UFC 99.
