According to Doctor John Morgan of MMAjunkie, Uriah Hall had some kind of kidney problem that caused him to be rushed to the hospital. Morgan told that Hall is stable at the moment. Possible weight cut issues? Pretty scary situation, hopefully dude will have no long term health repercussions from this.
Renal failure is a potential risk of weight cutting. PVZ was super drama on IG saying it was the scariest thing ever or some shit. Hopefully he's going to recover. Hopefully it doesn't take a death for the UFC to further refine their rules for cutting weight.
I would figure this would have to be a wake up call to the UFC, because I would think there will be a good deal of negative publicity with it. The thing I have always thought is it seems if everyone stops the big weight cuts everyone would end up fighting the same guys they are currently fighting anyways. Most of the 185 lb fights would move up to 205. Most of the 170 would move up to 185. I do wonder what they could do to change the rules for weight cutting though. Maybe adopting One FC's rules? Honestly I'm surprised this never happened with Anthony Johnson trying to make welterweight.

Only saw the last two fights. Superboy's boxing defence needs some retooling. He was getting jabbed to death. Korean Gaethje is still one of the most entertaining fighters but Stephens put it on him. JRC beat PVZ with grappling. PVZ went for several headlock hip tosses most of which resulted in her being on bottom. Apparently she fought through a forearm injury. She's tough but hasn't shown much improvement. Kamaru Usman is getting some flak for a dull decision win over Emil Meek. Despite his long streak it seems unlikely the UFC will put in him a main event against a highly ranked opponent or Colby Covington. Michael Johnson lost his FW debut. Jessica Eye got a win.
Looks like it may end up taking this after all. Dana White decided to crush Uriah Hall. http://mmajunkie.com/2018/01/dana-w...t-124-weigh-in-miss-he-doesnt-take-it-serious “Fight at 205 or show up and do what you’re supposed to do. There’s ways to cut weight properly and safely. You need to start doing that."
There are ways to cut weight properly and safely? I'm sure your MD would say the same. He/she wouldn't say that rapidly shedding water weight and rapidly regaining it isn't a tremendous strain on your system that can lead to a multitude of health problems including kidney failure, right? That it's dangerous and athletes know it but they accept the risk to gain an advantage or match their opponent? Great example of The Egg this weekend. Does a classy tribute to Matt Hughes then throws Uriah Hall under the bus for going against the UFC's shiny new performance institute.
Maybe I am reading into this wrong, but seems to me that dude has used his reality TV show to glorify unsafe weight cuts. I seem to remember on The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 that they championed and glorified Bobby Southworth losing like 26 pounds in one night.
