No clue how they will organize the bout order after the first three fights. Putting the heavyweights up there for now.

The Russians all have wizard names.

Akira Corassani, coming off two losses, gets a main card spot against Sam Sicilia, also coming off a loss.

Gusto has requested more comprehensive doping testing for himself and Johnson leading into their bout.

The Swedish AC has been a bit shitty with him in the past so hopefully things work out.

I wonder if Rumble can KO Gus? Gus has a solid chin, but Rumble has some dynamite fists. If Rumble can't win this in the first 2-3 rounds, I think he loses. I don't think he has the gas tank to hang with Gustafsson. I see Gus either scoring a late stoppage of some sorts or a decision victory.

I think Rumble's been fighting over his head and Gusto will take it out of him in the later rounds.

Also, anyone think this should be an interim title fight?

Gus has proven to have a sturdy chin, and he tends to eat some shots in his fights...I wonder what will happen to it if Rumble lands.

As for interim title fight, no I don't think so. Jones is an arrogant prick. I get the feeling (I could be totally wrong) that he's just in rehab for his image and to make it look like he's trying to get help. I don't think he'll be in there long.

AJ suffered a minor eye injury in training. He's been on the wrong end of eye-pokes before. His camp says it's nothing serious but for us to know about it is disconcerting. Almost every time we hear about an injury in camp it turns out to be true and is frequently as bad or worse than reported.

They couldn't have time this event more perfectly. The week before the super bowl, major network, title eliminator. The ratings should be large.

Could be up to 30,000 fans at the show tomorrow, making it the second highest-attended show the UFC will have done.

    Few thoughts...

Great turnout by the Swedes. Nice to see. Their fighters fared poorly but the atmosphere was still great for the main event.

Andy Ogle had his jimmies rustled by the quick stoppage. I thought to myself when it happened that these things have a way of coming back around. Fight karma, I guess. Didn't know that would be a sign of things to come later on in the night.

Kenny Robertson's knockout was enough to make people learn his name. Russian Luke Rockhold didn't look impressive in any aspect of the fight.

Seeing Akira Corassani lose never gets old.

Tumenov/Musoke, fight of the night IMO, although I didn't see the first four prelims.

Bader/Davis was a stinker. Davis is very talented but unreliable. This fight was a draw IMO and I don't understand why MMA judges are so loathe to call rounds even.

Ok, so, shades of Hendo/Fedor? Hendo went down in a heap with his hands at his sides. Mousasi said in the post fight interview that he was going to follow up but didn't, which is why he'll never be a UFC champion. Hendo getting rocked has become much more common of a theme in the late stages of his career. Was it a quick hook? Sure it was. But these things have a way of coming back around.

I thought AJ and Gusto might've clashed heads when Gustafsson lost his legs. The replays showed a glancing right hand connect along the lower left jawline and ear of Gustafsson and that was the beginning of the end. As much as I'd like to see JJ and Gusto fight again I don't think Gusto can beat him. At least AJ is new blood.

Bit of a frustrating night of fights.
