NFL players are told ahead of time when they will be tested. That is the power of the NFLPA.

Failing a PED test in the NFL is failing an IQ test.

Something here is starting to sound a little fishy...

Is Jones' team delaying to try and get their ducks in a row?
Is the NSAC delaying to find a way to save face?
Is the UFC using some pull to get it delayed to try and work a back door deal?

The hearing will take place on Halloween instead.

He faces a maximum one year suspension from USADA but up two two years on each count from the NAC.

If he kisses the ring he might be back sooner than later.

If they decide to flex on him he could be out for a while.

Jones tested positive for Clomifene and Letrozole. The NAC has published this.

Clomifene- take it coming off a cycle to bring your testosterone production back up to "natural levels."
Letrozole- take it to counteract the negative effects of steroids like gynecomastia. Also supposedly brings sperm production back up after cycles.

I'm guessing Jones' team has been raiding GNC for the last three months looking for shit that might contain either to say that's what he was taking (undeclared).

Sounds like they've had enough time to figure out which substances to blame.

I really don't know how they can prove that Jones was taking them when he was popped if he wasn't reporting them to USADA.

No matter what story Jones' team conjured up, I just don't buy it. He had so much time to put together the perfect story...and when it comes to Jones' character and person...where there is smoke, there is fire.

Yes. Doubtful that the NAC will be willing to let him off the hook with just the USADA recommendation. More likely they will add at least one more year.

But, huge but, the NAC are totally unpredictable at times.

Should note that they are hanging the failed tests on dick pills, not some off the shelf protein powder or whatever from GNC.

Hell of a coincidence, both JJ and Spider popping (or not popping) for dick pills, eh? Hell of a coincidence.

I still don't understand how they are able to prove he (they) were using that when they tested dirty. All they are doing is proving that the knockoff Viagra or whatever is "contaminated".

The USADA didn't think much of Jones' defense and gave him six months each for both failed tests, which is about the most they can or are willing to do. Seems likely the NAC will be of a similar opinion and dig in on him. They gave Silva one year but that was prior to the new guidelines.

So there is a chance that NSAC could add another year to the suspension?

Pat Lundvall seems to be the goofiest of the bunch and she is gone. She won't preside over his hearing.

I can't say I'd be shocked if the NAC does not add on to the suspension but I think they should.

They are setting a precedent with Jones. When Silva popped, they didn't have the USADA recommendation framework in place. Now they do. Jones failed two tests, failed to disclose, and is coming in with a very, very suspect excuse.

If they let him get less punishment for failing to disclose than he would've for having no excuse, every failed test from every fighter henceforth will use it as a precedent. It's better to lie than to be honest.

Frankly taking one Cialis or knock-off Cialis pill from one very specific, goof level website, that just so happens to contain cycling-off steroids, looks, walks, and sounds like a duck.

IIRC they are able to suspend him for two years per offense. If they believe any part of his story I think they will combine the failed tests into one failed test.

One year on top of USADA's recommended suspension would be my guess. That's still lenient. Probably avoids a challenge. More than that and they'll be fighting him in court for a while.

He should get the full 2x2 but I doubt it.

Eric Blasich, the teammate Jon Jones is blaming for his failed test, couldn't keep his story straight when pressured by USADA's attorney. Also, the attorney was suspicious of the written declarations from Jones and Blasich because they were clearly coordinated by Malki Kawa and not consistent with the oral evidence. To top it off the invoice on which Blasich's friend supposedly ordered the "dick pills" also had an order for straight clomiphene, one of the two drugs Jones popped for.

    This whole situation is shameful.

BTW the pills or whatever they provided had a third substance in them that Jones did not test positive for. His camp is saying the (single) pill he took was a "rogue" pill that didn't contain it.
