Goldy isn't perfect but he's been dedicated to the sport for many years and by most accounts is a nice and genuine person.
This would be in line with what DFW referred to as a commentary dream team. Jim Rome is a fucking tool.
Goldberg's replacement is coming in July. Goldy's son Kole tweeted that he was upset with the UFC after 20 years of service not even MENTIONING that it would be his last event. Fighters have also spoken up on his behalf. I don't understand why the UFC is so shitty with people all the time. Burt, Stitch, Goldy--everyone is so disposable to them.
Is Rome confirmed as the replacement? And why are they waiting until July? Whose going to cover until then? Anik? He's horrible.
No, just rumoured. Max Kellerman recently re-signed with HBO but he's also been rumoured, especially with Dana being a boxing guy he could be a target. I like Kellerman and he's been friendly to MMA unlike his peers. John Gooden, who does the UK/Europe events with Dan Hardy, is better than Anik, but Anik looks the most likely to fill in for Goldy for now. I don't think they've said who will partner with Rogan for PPV & FOX shows. I don't see them handing play-by-play and copy reads to a former fighter. Stann and Florian do a good job. Mir does as well but he's suspended.
Grisham is a goof. I'm guessing DFW got ahead of himself talking about a commentary dream team. WME-IMG prefers him to Goldy?
Looks like it. However DFW said that the new guy wouldn't be ready until July. Grisham is debuting in two weeks. Seems pretty coincidental that they'd hire him right after firing Goldy if he wasn't his replacement, tho.
There is a rumour floating around that Goldy was fired for not being prepared multiple times in a row. The former owners were softer. Another rumour that Jim Rome is still on his way and Grisham is just going to be used for backstage interviews and desk duties.
If they hire Mario Lopez I am effectively never ordering a PPV again. And the ones I watch illegally will be watched on mute.
