Didn't see a great thread just to compare our current wings with some of those we keep dreaming about. Since I was looking up some physical measurements (height is barefoot just for accurate comparison): Harkless: 6'7"; wing 7'0"; reach 8'7.5" Aminu:6'7"; wing 7'3.5"; reach 9'o.5" (wow) Oubre:6'6"; wing 7'2.5"; reach 8'6.5" Barton:6'7"; wing 6'10"; reach 8'7.0" https://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.fcgi?request=1&sum=1&player_id1_hint=Maurice Harkless&player_id1_select=Maurice Harkless&y1=2018&player_id1=harklma01&idx=players&player_id2_hint=Al-Farouq Aminu&player_id2_select=Al-Farouq Aminu&y2=2018&player_id2=aminual01&idx=players&player_id3_hint=Kelly Oubre Jr.&player_id3_select=Kelly Oubre Jr.&y3=2018&player_id3=oubreke01&idx=players&player_id4_hint=Will Barton&player_id4_select=Will Barton&y4=2018&player_id4=bartowi01&idx=players They are actually more similar statistically then I would have expected. Biggest outliers are Barton as 2x assists (and TO) and Aminu has an amazing defensive win share number. Doesn't appear that either of these options would make a huge improvement to the lineup.
They wouldn’t. Harkless and Aminu are basically your average NBA players and our current collection of assets would maybe allow us to get someone of very similar quality.
Now that the draft is over, dreaming about landing a quality vet wing is about all we can do. NO is going to work very hard on the dumpster diving process.
The best hope for this team might be for Collins to "pop," as they say, and take over the PF position. Chief off the bench or Moe off the bench gives us something different (I'd lean toward Chief off the bench because Moe pouts so damn much, I think he needs Dame to get him involved).
Internally, I shouted at every Courtney Lee comment over the last couple of seasons. But now I'm onboard. Fuck it. I do think having a good team is about having clear roles and I think Lee would slip into that vacant AC role that we hoped PC would fill.
I like Chandler, always have. However there is one huge issue with Chandler. You never know what Chandler you're going to get. Is it the Chandler who could score 16+ on anyone? Or Is it the Chandler who goes MIA for big stretches of the season. I'm still angry about the 14th being available and Portland not getting it.
Adding a few names as options/targets/possibly available Wes Matthews Courtney Lee Tim Hardaway Jr. Kent Bazemore Michael Kidd Gilchrist CJ Miles James Johnson Tony Snell Markieff Morris Jodie Meeks Batum Marvin WIlliams Justin Holiday Demarre Carroll Jared Dudley Tobias Harris Wilson Chandler
IF the 14th was available, nobody knows what the cost would be. Maybe it was prohibitive and you can;t go off of a rumor as fact. Jury is still out on what sort of impact Porter will have as his back may be a major obstacle.
He just opted in. Can’t imagine Denver wants him. And they still need to clear money. This would be an obvious move for Portland. Get a pick out of it too.
Thabo Sefolosha. If he can get healthy, he's a better defender than anyone but Aminu on our roster. Is he a FA? If so, he's probably one of the few we can actually afford.
It looks like your measurements for height are with out shoes except for Barton who was measured at 6'5" without shoes. Is that correct?
He has no offense though. I would rather go after a starting caliber small forward rather than a back up.
I think Gordon and Tucker will be available for TPE if Houston agree a deal with LeBron. They will need to clear some cap space to make that move happen. They might do that via opt in and trade and we could become the third team that would facilitate the move by taking on Gordon’s salary for example (we are one of few teams in the league who can take salary thanks to TPE). He would be immense off the bench or even starting at the 3. Tyreke Evans is the perfect target with MLE. If not then I like Grant and Bjelica as stretch fours, Hezonja as a combo forward.
If the Celtics get into the LeBron chase, I could see Gordon Hayward being made available. A straight-up trade for CJ would work and would save the Celtics around $6M. Just sayin'.
Less of a vet, but following Olshey's pattern of trading for very cheap players from other teams who end up being useful Blazers: I would inquire about Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. He hasn't done much of anything in the NBA yet, and Philly just drafted Zhaire Smith (and has another young wing prospect in Furkan Korkmaz), so I wouldn't be surprised if he was gettable. Why would we want him? I just think he could have something: he's active and mobile and he's got the right fundamentals, he just hasn't really put it together yet.
Eric Gordon? He is the same size as Lillard and no way would he be a small forward. The guy would be a great shooter off the bench but only as a backup at guard.
