    Dame would fetch a huge trade package and is on the wrong side of 30. What lack of success would you be ok with the Blazers exploring Dame trades?

    Trading Dame is only a good move if we're upgrading in talent/expected potential.

    Trading Dame for draft picks or unproven rookies that you hope would be 80% of Lillard would be a foolish move. If we could get Luka, Zion, etc. sure you'd have to think about it... that isn't happening though.

    HELL NO NEVER! He would have to request a trade, and then it would be like a thousand shots to the Jewels. Generational talent only comes around once in a Blue Moon. The draft is a crapshoot. And Dame has invested so much in the community. Most great players couldn't wait to take the fast train out . Dame is rip city.

    If you define "don't succeed" as failure then the greatest failure we could have right now is trading Dame. So your question is impossible to answer. We should never trade Dame because that would be the definition of not succeeding in this situation.

    I don't even ever go on the Trade Dame thread even though I love dreaming up trades. But if I am reading things right, Lillard is now not 100% committed to staying. If this season does not go well, I believe he will be asking for a trade. So if the season starts to go bad, I think we would need to trade as soon as possible.

    what makes you think that?

    * James Harden was just recently traded for the injured Oladipo...and a collection of crappy draft picks
    * Chris Paul was traded for Rubio & Oubre and a likely 28-30th pick next year
    * Paul George was traded for Oladipo and Sabonis, then for SGA and Gallo...and a collection of crappy picks

    Odds are extremely high that Portland will be much worse after a Dame trade and remain worse for years. The notion that somehow Portland will get some great trade package is in conflict with recent NBA history
