With their schedule, we need all the help we can get from teams playing New Orleans - and this is a game they should lose. Hopefully Gobert and Mitchell can suck it up and get us a win.

Agree with this. If, without even playing a single game, the Blazers have to rely on other teams for help then this season is already over.

All teams should win all their own games. Great utopian concept.

reality however, is that all teams will take any help they can get. And so will we.

help would be ok, but after everything that's happened this 'season' so far, I'm not enthusiastic about Portland backing into the playoffs. I really don't want to see Portland go 3-5 but they back into the 2 game playoff with Memphis because everybody else went 2-6

it's on the Blazers to earn this because beating Memphis 2 straight games (might have to be 3 straight games) and then making it a series against the Lakers won't happen if Portland has some kind of negative 'all-the-teams-our-level-sucked' momentum

But. If we go 3-5 and the others go 2-6 and we are all playing each other, would that really be backing in? We were still better than the others, were we not?

The Pelicans have such an easy schedule. It's so obvious who the NBA wants as the 8th seed, they're not even bothering to disguise it.

Pelicans about to go 6-2....5-3 at the worst. Blazers need to win 5- 6 games to get in. Tough

    that's not the point

there are always 8th seeds that have no real business being in the playoffs and are swept in the first round. They have no momentum entering the playoffs but only get there by virtue of all their peers sucking big time. I would not have any enthusiasm about Portland being in a 2-game-must-win situation against Memphis for the right to get blasted by the Lakers

Portland needs to earn this, and just being less shitty than the other shitty teams is not earning anything

Denver would like to disagree with you.

sorry, but not buying it. so make it six teams. The 6th team will be in the same boat.

Make it 10 teams. The 10th team will still be in the same boat.

im just nOt sure what you would prefer as the alternative i suppose?

if they get into that must win series with the griz should they just forfeit then?

sorry OB....I'm not going to get into a back and forth about this with you

all I said was that I'd have no enthusiasm for the Blazers if they played shitty and backed into the playoffs. You could fire 3387 questions at me and my feeling about it won't change.

Portland got to this point by going 29-37, a .439 winning percentage. Going 3-5 is a .375 winning percentage so they would have gotten worse. So yeah....fuck that

Okay, but the 3-5 is with a completely different lineup they are trying to figure out. You don't think it would be far fetched for them to go 0-3 in scrimmages, 3-5 in the 8 games and then continue to get better if they make the playoffs because they are learning to play with each other?

I get your point, not trying to dismiss it, just wondering where or why you cant get excited considering the situation at hand?

No back and forth need. NO argument. Just trying to better understand your lack of enthusiasm overall.

Actually if we go 3-5, we're still in if everyone else goes 3-5 too.

I gotta dig out my Shandon Anderson jersey for tonight. Or maybe my Howard Eisley one.

New Orleans looks tough with or without Zion; smooth, decisive and aggressive.

Utah shot way too poorly in the first half and NOLA was on fire. I expect Utah to start shooting better, which they already are and NOLA to cool off but we'll have to wait and see.
