http://justarsenal.com/wenger-arsenal-have-no-need-of-joe-cole-or-yoann-gourcuff/4581 The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has clearly ruled out any chance of Joe Cole arriving at the Emirates this year, by saying that he fully expects Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri to fulfil the role of offensive midfielders next season. Both Nasri and Walcott were left out of their respective World Cup squads this summer, but Wenger thinks that they will learn from the experience and come back as better players. Wenger said on French TV: “I hope that Nasri and Walcott can transform that in the future of their career into even higher motivation, and come back with even more desire to show how good they are. “I’m not in the market for a offensive or creative midfielder, we’ve got enough players in this area.” The Telegraph reported last night that Arsenal were still in the market for Cole, but think that it would only come about if Eduardo decides to go on loan next season. Wenger himself also made it quite clear that he wouldn’t be making an offer for Yoann Gourcuff either, which leads me to think he still has no intention of selling Cesc Fabregas. “We are not interested in Gourcuff and we were never contacted,” Wenger said. “He’s a player I like a lot, but we are sufficiently covered in midfield.” One area that he still needs players for is in defence, and he confirmed that he is still looking to reinforce his back line. “It is not over, we are still open to buy,” he added. “We are still on the market for another defensive player because we have the need for one more.” No mention of a goalkeeper there, unless that’s what he means by a “defensive player”……
Re: Wenger: not interested in Cole, Gourcuff, more "offensive or creative midfielders Shopping list: 1. Quality keeper 2. Good centre back 3. Defensive midfielder
Re: Wenger: not interested in Cole, Gourcuff, more "offensive or creative midfielders I 2nd that thought
Re: Wenger: not interested in Cole, Gourcuff, more "offensive or creative midfielders I'm glad we are not looking for more attacking players, I think we just about have enough to compete properly, there's no point in bringing players so they can sit in the bench. I agree with speed's the GK being No.1 Priority and another CB as our second. But Mr. Song has proven to be a good DM, easily the most improved player last season for me. Denilson was also being brought as a backup DM, there's still time, and I'm sure well get there. All the proven DM's are overpriced right now.
Re: Wenger: not interested in Cole, Gourcuff, more "offensive or creative midfielders Yeah as a back-up for Song I don't like Denilson (lazy), Ramsey (out of position), Eastmond (raw), or Diaby (better going forward than backward). I'd like to get an experienced player in there. I suppose Eboue could fit the bill but he doesn't get used like that.
Re: Wenger: not interested in Cole, Gourcuff, more "offensive or creative midfielders We should of gotten Frings a couple of seasons ago.
