Saw this documentary "We're not broke" about left wing activists whining about corporations paying $0 in taxes, as if it makes a huge difference.

Let's put the numbers in perspective and see what they're whining about.

    That's $363.6B over 5 years, or $74B a year.

What does $74B buy? Well, the govt. taxes $3 and spends $4, so $74B buys $18B in deficit and debt. How long would that $74B run the government?

    The federal government spends $10.46B/day. $74B/$10.46B = a week.

Getting those corporations to pay their tax is going to save the day!

    Hahahahaha.

Not to mention the government is mostly funded by big checks written by those corporations every pay period. You know, the withholding for the employees (FICA). And when those companies buy back their own stock, which is common these days, the sellers of those shares pay capital gains taxes.

Throw in taxes they pay for sales, property, telephone lines, you name it, and the companies aren't paying $0 in tax.

    Bernie Sanders is channeling this.

If elected, he'll run out of other peoples' money real quick.

SNL would probably pull a sketch called I Blame Obama. Even if it was a satire of the phrase. Of course, no chance of it being funny anyway.

$75B in relation to the $4T spent. Surely they can find some fat to trim.
It's not about the companies paying income tax or not. It's the complete fantasy that collecting the $74B is going to save the day.

$75B is all there is. In the movie they said $71B,

But sure, there's this imaginary enormous pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

They also whined about companies wanting to pay 5% tax to repatriate $1.5T in offshore money. There's now $2.1T, and it's been accumulated over years.

35% of ~$2T is $700B, but one time. Over the 10 years it was accumulated, averages $70B per year.

Still a drop in the bucket.
