It seems like several of the new guys have a lot of potential, but need at least one thing to reach it. I'm curious about thoughts on this:

    3pt shooting
    Aminu
    Pressey/Frazier

    mid-range shooting
    Davis
    Harkless
    Plumlee

    lateral quickness
    Connaughton

    Game time/scrimmages
    Alexander
    Montero

New posters need to work on not creating threads for topics that already exist, making sure all trade proposals are legal, and getting too sensitive to constructive criticism. Some have some potential but just want to become too big too quick.

Oooh, you mean players. The coaching staff gets paid plenty to worry about this. Players also earn millions and have to take personal responsibility for their game. We are all mere fans cheering from the sidelines.

    I would like to add:

    defensive reaction timing
    Connaughton
    Alexander
    Vonleh

    B-Ball awareness (decision making)
    Vonleh
    Alexander

    Shot blocking (shot altering)
    Plumlee
    Alexander
    Vonleh
I want to add Leonard here as well

    Setting picks
    Vonleh
    Alexander
Leonard (not a new but needs to still work on it)

I would also add Hendo to 3 point shooting and B-Ball awarness

I think developing the discipline to know when starting a new thread is a good idea or not. Learning that you don't have to start a brand spanking new thread every time you want to obsess about the minutiae of an already existing thread. Fuck you you know who you are.

Thank you Mags for a real answer.

Other than general game experience, which they all need, there is really a lot of talent here. I'm sure a few of these guys will take this opportunity seriously, but I hope the Blazers staff will have time to work on fundamentals this year. Regular season is notorious for just being about game prep and these guys need more than that.

Guards/Wings - perimeter man to man defense, and three point shooting

Bigs - low post defense, shot blocking, finishing at the rim, medium range shooting, free throw shooting

I'd say that both Aminu and Harkless should work on their shooting and ball-handling--those are the skills that our starting 3 will need, and both have the talent to fill that slot if they develop the skills necessary.

Rather than their mid-range jumpers, I'd rather Davis and Plumlee work on their low-post moves. Zig while the rest of the league zags.

Vonleh--defense, finishing at the rim, and just overall control. IMO he's got all the tools, just needs the game to slow down for him a little more.

Connaughton--perimeter defense, spot-up shooting. Basically, become Wes Matthews; I think he's got what it takes.

Just how good is our player development staff? I mean we lost Kim Hughes and everybody agrees he was one of the best. How do the rest of them stack up? I am sure San Antonio has the best, since they are perfect in everything they do.

Everyone agrees?! I didn't think so. Leonard played like absolute shit for his first 2 years until Kaman mentored him. T. Rob, Crabbe and Barton didn't get much better each year either. I think it was a great firing

    My wish list:

    Bill Laimbeer (goes without saying)
    Kaman (player/coach)
Sheed (using length as a defender, shooting)
    Pippen (shooting/slashing/passing)
    Nash (shooting/passing)

Well I wasn't there during practices, but Nards has publicly said in several interviews that he learned so much from Sasquatch

Yeh, where is his replacement? And since we have so many younger guys who needs skills improved, why haven't they gone out and spent PA's money and got the best; and maybe two of them?

I've been watching videos of our new guys and biggest hole I see from a lot of them is scoring and shooting. All of the new guys seem like very capable offensive rebounders and help defenders, but they are seriously lacking on the offensive end of the floor.

Aminu, Harkless, and Henderson all need some intense shooting workouts to improve their 3pt shot. We know Terry emphasizes that skill, and they need to be viable options to provide Dame the space he needs to do his thing. None of our wings can space the floor at the moment except for Crabbe (and he's not really a threat either to keep defenses honest). This is my biggest concern this year.

Davis and Plums need to perfect their FT shooting.

Vonleh needs serious floor time to get his timing and feel for the game.

Leonard needs to work on ball handling and a post game.

Dame and CJ need to work on defense. Like bad. Get the conditioning right so they can go hard on both ends, and then focus on angles, and working in team defense. Both of them are absolutely pitiful on D at the moment, and this is their biggest hurdle towards playing together for extended periods.
