"Look, you have to understand... We had a great season. Very successful year. Even though we were the youngest team in the playoffs and managed to get home court advantage. If we had a couple more shots fall, and they missed some shots they made, we would've been competitive in this series. But that doesn't take away from all this team accomplished this season. You have to understand that this is year three of a five year rebuild, and we're far ahead of schedule. Look, when we had that roster turnover a couple years ago, we didn't even think we'd be in the playoffs at this point, so to make it every year since is a huge accomplishment. We had a 13-game win streak. Terry did a phenomenal job with these guys, and we were able to avoid the luxury tax. I couldn't have envisioned this season going any better than it did. We're going to look at making a few, minor changes this off-season using the player acquisition vehicles we have at our dispense, but this group has shown to grow each year with each other (from being swept as an 8-seed to being swept as a 3-seed). Due to internal growth as well as Paul keeping his pocketbook open, we'll do what we can to retain our assets so that we'll project as a 54-win team next year. Rip City should be thrilled with the job we've done."
This won't make many people on this forum happy. I believe NO will last until at least the end of the 2019 season. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Stotts/NO last until the end of Lillard & CJ's contracts tho. I would be very surprised if NO is fired this off-season.
Call me back in 2020 then because I have better shit to do with the 240 hours of my life the Blazers waste.
*shrugs* I'm not happy with it, but it seems like Portland had a plan going into this season. I don't see that plan changing. They've given no signals that it would.
I don't understand how Paul can be happy paying $120M a season for a team that constantly gets swept in the 1st round.
Reporter: Why is Evan Turner still a Portland Trail Blazer and furthermore why did you give him that behemoth of a contract when you could’ve taken a page out of Philly’s book and gave him 20+ million for just one year to free up future cap space and add roster flexibility? Olshey: Look, what you fail to understand is we had to spend the money, Evan is a phenomenal locker room veteran for this team. In fact, who do you work for? Why are they even paying you the wage you make?
"I could've been a big actor in Hollywood, instead I'm trying to bring a little Hollywood to this no valet, backwater town."
Go listen to some of the interviews for Portland's front office. It comes across as they have a plan and they're going to stick to it no matter what. Do I agree with it? who knows, but that doesn't mean it doesn't come across as a plan is there. I understand emotions are running high right now for some. Not for me tho. I was never emotionally invested in this team. This is the first season Portland wasn't supposed to get hammered in the playoffs though. GSW 2x, Clippers, and really Houston.
First season they weren't supposed to get hammered? Last year they were thinking 2nd round, as they had made the 2nd round the previous season. You don't pay that much money expecting to get an 8-seed and get swept.
Meyers is takin 10M per year for basketball, and he's not even PLAYING! I have no reason to live. Hate this pathetic cunt.
Guys, if I ever get to the point where I have a job with media access, I would make you guys proud with the questions I'd ask. "You guys like to use advanced analytics. Well advanced analytics show that Evan Turner hurts the team whenever he's on the floor. Is it safe to say the Evan Turner contract has mightily backfired?" "There seemed to be a lack of adjustments over the series. You guys never had an answer for New Orleans trapping the pick n roll. Was the issue with the offensive system that couldn't handle pick n roll trapping, or is there not enough talent to be able to exploit those traps?"
I guess you have to admit that they technically did make the playoffs the last 2 years but may be the only team to play on both year's playoffs in the last 2 years that did not have a single playoff win.
