Assuming no major trades: Dame: practice dribbling around, through and passing out of double teams, he has already pretty much done everything else he needs to do; CJ: run PnR where he has to pass every time; ET: three point shots, all summer, every day, hire a shooting coach, whatever; Aminu: ball handling drills, driving to the rim; Harkless; ball handling drills, driving to the rim; Collins: weight room; game time; weight room; weight room; Nurkic: patient post moves, the guy is better than he knows, he just needs to slow down Baldwin: playing time anywhere; Patty: not sure he will be here, but if he is, continued 3pt shooting, that is his role. Davis: not sure you can change him at this point, just keep him healthy; Meyers: I know, but you have to try. Playing as much post defense as he can; decision making on committing to threes (he things too much, just be ready and launch it); Swanigan: lateral quickness on defense and 3pt shooting. I don't think you can make him a leaper at this point.
1. Dame needs to become a better shooter on catch and shoots. He's shockingly bad at it. And he needs to stop being so proud of taking tough shots. Improve your efficiency by taking easier shots. That's what will ultimately help the team. 2. CJ needs to study film and find cutters/divers/shooters on the P&R 3. Nurk needs to get in better shape and start dunking more. Everyone else is fairly irrelevant for now. Our team will go as far as these guys take us. If we are going the new coach route, I want him in early this fall and start honing some of these skills early so that the style of play matches our players' skillsets.
I can not look at this from a "no trade" point of view. I would shit can the coach and tell the guys that they had better not buy a house in the area.
Buying a house is a smart thing to do for a young millionaire....Damon Stoudamire rented his for decades to Blazer players. What they don't want to do is buy a private jet. Carlos Boozer rented his house to Prince in LA.....assets are assets
I don't know how you come back with no major trades/moves. They just got swept in a series most NBA experts had the winning. It was embarrassing! Neil's seat has to be getting pretty warm.
I see us trading our draft pick and packaging it with our TPE and maybe a veteran for an upgrade...I'm sure we'll see changes...I just don't think they'll be rookies getting traded
Since we have $110M in guaranteed salaries and will give away approximately 14 players, I would tell them all to sell in the summer house-selling season.
Dame: Rest CJ: Passing and defense ET: Three point shots Aminu: Needs to work on NOT dribbling. Ever. Not ever. Also a mid-range shot ala Travis Outlaw. He's horrible at it. Harkless: Keep working on his three ball; work on his handle getting to the basket Collins: Strength; Three pointers Nurkic: Being patient when he has the ball in the post and working for a good shot instead of hurriedly flicking up a flaming bag of shit. Post moves WITHOUT putting the ball on the floor. Electric shock to his nipples if he can't make a move in the paint without dribbling first. Stop dribbling in the paint. Stop it. And free throw shooting. Baldwin: Needs work on his outside shot. He made some, but it wasn't a sure thing. Learning the system and the players (film study). Patty: Three point shooting and keeping his handle sharp. Davis: Stay in shape. Free throws. Shooting from 8-10 feet from the basket. It might not help, but it can't hurt. Meyers: Stay positive. Play basketball. Swanigan: How to get a shot off around the basket with a taller/better jumping defender in his way.
I'd like to add that is should be the right house, not the richest, biggest house on the block. That will get them in financial trouble quickly. Lonzo already bought his parents a $5M home. His rookie year salary is only 6.2M which he will only see half of. Spending his future money already...
What move can be done without taking at least one dribble? Even a regular drop step needs one dribble.
