I don't know if this is illegal, but I just went in there. And nobody and I mean nobody posts in there anymore. So I ask you. What do you put the cause of this to? Is it that S2 is that irresistible? I have my thoughts. But let me get yours.
I left because a New Jersey housewife banned me for having the audacity to post in a thread where someone later swore.
Poorly moderated, same bitter few who have petty arguments that go back a decade, no long term archive of posts, no way to search posts, no ignore feature, no way to post pictures or videos, Jet.
It's such an outdated medium to communicate. When I discovered the phpbb format, I never went back. It was too damn hard to follow what was going on when I posted on Oregonlive.... and that was over ten years ago.
The political forums is still going strong. http://www.oregonlive.com/forums/undecidedvoters/?initial=true
It went down hill because the moderator didn't listen to the customers using the forum.. If you don't make changes and listen to the customer theres a good chance it will not survive.
Advance Publications (who owns Oregonlive) has moderators in NJ. You flag a post they delete it. You can get any post over there deleted. It's rather hilarious.
BGG: I don't think they can justify the costs involved of running a forum which is why they are drifting away from the forums. Moderation is one cost that just isn't worth it to them. Which makes me wonder. What are the costs to run this forum and is it worth it to the admin?
Due to douches like the Laker Lanny's of the world. They have to have moderators. Which means extra cost. In the end, how much money does leaving the forum actually bring in for them?
Except the parent company that owns Advance Publications also owns Reddit. Reddit is by far the most successful and growing forums on the internet. I don't understand why Oregonlive just doesn't shut down their forums and link them to Reddit.
I have tried about 3 times to go over there and check it out. The format is too confusing. I love this setup.
