Well, I've just got to say that if the Blazer players are all on board with Chauncey staying ... then I guess that means they all should be going.

We offer least resistance to teams driving into the paint than just about any team in the NBA. If the players think Chauncey's system works, then they must be terrible players and I guess they'd agree that we should try to unload them in the offseason.

This team has no idea what it's doing on defense. None. It's regressed tremendously since the first month of the season.

Joe isn't going to come out and say that he decided to punt on the trade deadline and then judge Chauncey for wins and losses with the even less complete roster he was left with. Joe said that our roster was incomplete before the season and after the deadline he said that when they couldn't land a difference maker he went into asset acquisition mode.

I'm not saying that it looks like Chauncey is going to be good, I'm saying I can't rule out that he could be with a roster with more talent that's spread evenly across positions and areas of need.

Chauncey should be fired if he proves he can't win with a team that should be winning.

Oh and of course Joe probably needs to go but I think him and Chauncey's contracts probably expire at the same time so that's when they'll have to had proven themselves or going into that last season of those deals which isn't until like the summer of 2025... which is when the new TV deal kicks in. I honestly think it will be the season after next that the new deal gets announced and that's when I'm betting the team gets sold but who the fuck knows.

I did predict 35-37 wins this year but they got 31. Yes we had some injuries but so every other team in this league. Bottom line they under achieve has a team this year period. I also wasn't a fan of Billups hiring due there was more qualified coaches out there in this league.

You know how many players would run through a wall for their garbage coach?

    A lot

To be fair, all those teams for the most part have the requisite parts to field a competitive team.

Having one legitimate player (that is often injured) over 6’9 is a Cronin failure.

So if Joe is to evaluate Chauncey, it has to be in context, and that context means Joe dealt him an INTENTIONALLY bad hand to begin with.

(Yes, intentionally, because even morons like me at the beginning of the season said our height coupled with retaining an injury prone Nurk would make for a long season).

People keep saying that we only have one player over 6'9 but the truth is John Butler Jr is a 7 ft guy...problem is he weighs 190 lbs

This is why Chauncey Billups is a trash ass coach. I was huge on the hire and I admit now I was completely wrong about him.

This roster shouldn’t be THAT bad. At worst it should be .500 level.. I just don’t think the guy has the x and o smarts to be a coach. We made a terrible mistake

This is just another bullshit take from Reddit. No one thought this was a good roster. The GM started the season by saying the roster is incomplete and then said he wasn’t able to make the moves to make it competitive at the deadline. This is probably the worst constructed roster Dame has played on in his career. At least that shitty roster where we had Powell playing out of position had guys that knew each other. That roster and this one are shit. Chauncey might really suck but he should have a chance to show that with a roster that at least his GM says should be competitive.

Hollinger and Duncan just did their coach rankings.

It was agreed that Chauncey was the 2nd worst coach in the league, only behind Stephen Silas and the chaos in Houston.

    Yeeesh. Not sure I disagree.

A lot of teams underperformed with one common denominator....... Injuries.
I am not sold on Chauncey either, but injuries are a huge factor every year. If you have a deep and talented team then you can stay afloat. When you have an average team and you have injuries then you are lottery bound. You also have to consider our strategic tanking. I mean Dame sitting for the N.O. game? He was fine. Could Grant and Ant have gone last night if we really wanted to ensure a win? Again I am not convinced Chauncey is an above-average coach, but the record is a bit misleading IMO.

Oh, starting 5 roster was probably the best the Blazers had since the LMA, Wes, Batum years.

The problems were thin, super green bench and a green coach. Add injuries on top of this and this team was decimated

It's crazy to me that we didn't do anything to adjust to the potential for injuries OR after we ultimately suffered injuries.

Cronin is allergic to big men. It's insane.

It was the most talented but Jerami being a smallish 4 and Josh being a 2 couldn't balance out the minute back court the way Moe and Chief did even though Moe and Chief were nowhere close to as good of basketball players... just my opinion. It wasn't talent it was construction. The wrong materials even if they were far superior materials.
