OMG Whiteside is pump

i don't know if it was mentioned here, but Whiteside actually wanted to sign with Blazers in his last free agency.

He mentioned we were his 2nd option after a game we had against them. Maybe he had regrets and now he's feeling like he "fixed" his decision?

Anyway, i'm sure he's aware the Blazers are a great club for building one's market value towards free agency.

the media's consensus seems to be a good deal for Miami, it seems , as we all know, Hassan had attitude problems, so it's good for Portland that it's a, potentially short term contract. hopefully hassan whitesides will love it here in Portland and leaves the attitude in Miami
CJ & Dame will rub off on him like they did with Nurk!
He had a couple head cases with him in Miami..

He only played 6 games that season. Hardly enough to judge how long before he was playing at a higher level and the Pacers didn't make the playoffs that year so who knows how much better he might have played. You like the doom and gloom and I prefer the positive outlook but the bottom line, it hasn't been determined yet how long he will be out and where his game will be at. The Whiteside deal just adds some insurance and the ability to take the time necessary for Nurkic to return. I will continue just do the wait and see and not predict a negative.

WTF are you talking about? and pound sand with your "doom and gloom" bullshit

all I said, in response to the notion that Whiteside might be traded at the deadline, was that he might actually be needed at C the entire season. We don't know when Nurk will be back and how good he'll be when his is. And right now, Whiteside is the only physical C Portland has. Portland wants to be a contender next season and Whiteside the C might easily be better in that win-now mode than Whiteside the trade asset. Of course if any great deal comes along than Whiteside might be available. That is true for most of the players

there's nothing negative about that unless someone is just looking for something they can twist into negative in order to just argue.

Goodbye. Sounds like I would be better off just ignoring you.

It depends on when Nurk can actually come back and be his old self, which honestly won't be next season. It's probably a full year injury to recover from fully, so best case scenario he might be back to his old self by the playoffs, so he'd be coming off the bench if at all next season. And then when he's healthy the following, whiteside is gone anyways. So it's a good situation to be in.
Could I talk you i to changing your avatar? lol quack

so can we feasibly run Twin Towers?

Dame
CJ
Hood
Nurk
Whiteside

who is more the C, id think Whiteside? if nurk keeps dropping weight, he could be an awesome PF?

this is a great day

I think whiteside and either Collins or Skall are easily twin towers. Not sure I want to ever see Nurkic and Whiteside on the court at the same time as neither can shoot outside or guard stretch 4s at the line.

there can be value in zigging when everybody else is zagging, but Nurk at PF is zigging off a cliff

Agreed. That tweet says WS exposes the weakside chasing blocks well imagine if Zach was there for cleanup duty. Whaaap!

Nurk and Whiteside are two different players. Jokic is a superior version of Nurk. The Nuggets front office made it clear to him and so did the coaching staff. He knew he was redundant here.

Nurk knows he's not coming back and playing 32-36 minutes. Next season will be working himself into NBA shape. He and Whiteside compliment one another and should be able to cover 48 minutes with high energy.
We will see how it works out. On the contrary, We should have excellent trade value in both.

Finally a dude with an attitude.

We’re gonna see if this “culture” thing we’ve built in Portland is actually worth its weight in words.
whos gonna start when Nurk comes back?

He's an expiring. There is no reason for him to tank his own value before his free agency.

And again, this is where we can see if Portland's "culture" is actually worth anything.

Hassan was benched last year in Miami and I didn’t hear any real public cries. Dame will keep him in check. Plus like you said, he’s playing for a new contract. And attitude is going to be a big question he’ll have to answer to. Would be idiotic to add wood to that fire.

Then Portland has a really good backup and maybe they’ll finally win a fucking championship while I’m alive.
I agree, but wonder what happens if Whiteside explodes (in a good way) in Portland. Might make that decision tougher.
Or we have an expiring deal on a big contract that actually would have trade value.

Neil, cancel this deal! This is a huge mistake that gives away the 2020 Championship by trading away our most efficient scorer! Meyers and Nurk were about to work together to give the power at Center that would lead us to the 2020 NBA Championship. Act now and cancel this trade!

Cracks me up anytime you see somebody on tv say something like, "Y'all messed up. You haven't seen the last of me! This is just the beginning!" because that's usually the last time you see that person.

This is not a good look for Hassan Whiteside (or the announcers or the refs):

I'm looking WAY too far ahead, but I wonder what the chances of bringing back Enes next year? He has a player option with Boston, it's Whiteside's last year on his deal. Despite Kanter's frustration about not being given much time, my guess is he still would have preferred to be here (I don't think we offered as much money as Boston).

Bottom line, you could have Whiteside and Kanter on the same active roster, but not Nurkic, Whiteside and Kanter. All three would be resentful, especially with two playing for new contracts.
