At this point in the season who is your MVP? Who has distinguished thereself as the most valuable player? Whether that means the best player on the best team, the player who contributes the most in the league to wins, the most dominant player in the league or whatever your criteria might be.

I'm going to go with Luka because his stats are just too outrageous but my second pick on the team tied for the fourth best record in the league today is Giannis. We only get one pick though, so for me it's Luka.

(Politically and for MVP, I'm not against ranked voting but for simplicity's sake I think this poll and thread should force you to pick one, especially at this point of the year where the pick will be conflicting for all of us)

I can’t think of an MVP as being just the guy with the most impressive stats. It has to include making contributions that lead to team success. I’m going with Tatum. Best player on the team with the best record.

Yeah, the criteria makes it hard. If it's the best stats which seems to be overwhelming me right now, it's definitely Luka. Best player on the team with the best record... I didn't even list him and it's Jayson Tatum. Best player in the league regardless of who he has around him is probably Giannis or maybe Joker. It's a hard question to answer and hard to know why you're answering it the way you are.

That's fair and I guess Tatum should be a singular option. Mods, could you put Tatum as an option before "Other"?

I think Luka will get it this year, if he keeps playing the way he's playing. I think Jokic is consistent, but the league just isn't going to keep giving it to the same dude over and over.

You're right. If the voters didn't take into consideration how many MVPs a player has, MJ and LeBron would have more.

Luka. The Mavs would be terrrrrrrible without him. Man has no help. Dinwiddie?

It’s Joker easily in my opinion.

    Good question.

To answer, i need to define MVP. I am considering the MVP the one guy i would want to build around right now. This means he must be one of the most versatile players. They are easier to build around. Guys with specific skill sets means they need others around them with other specific skillsets, making them harder to buold around. (See Dame). A guy who is versatile could possibly take a few variations of buildarounds.
So with that in mind, i voted for Jokic with Luka tight on his ass, only trailing because of his defense.
kD four years ago woulda taken the cake.
    Ja is all offense.
    Zion is too inconsistent
Tatum is great but i feel in part, a product of the system.
Giannis would be my third pick and he would catapult to number one with a consistent outside shot.

Definitely Luka? Jokic clearly has the best stats in the league. They are insane.

And Wood and THJ. Luka’s supporting cast is underrated.

If you don’t say Tatum then you must hate ‘Murica.

In all honesty, it goes to show you just how much the game has grown internationally.

Wood, Dinnwiddie and Hardaway is fine. No stars, not even close. Just solid players. If they didn’t have Luka they would be absolutely awful

Still have to go with Jokic. I think they have a great shot at taking the whole damn thing.

True. I’d have no problem with him as MVP.

I’d also add that if Luka can carry the Mavs to a top 3-4 seed in the West, I would have no issue with him as MVP.

He's scoring a few less ppg... just a few. Joker has .6 more apg and around 2 more rpg. Luka gets more steals by a fraction and they block shots at the same rate. That difference in points is a little over 8 per game.

I'd say they're both putting up insane numbers. I wouldn't blame you for picking Joker.
