Assuming we're keeping our guaranteed guys Pat and Jake, our nonguaranteed contracts are Jerrett, Stiemsma, Montero, and Quarterman. Who do you think will make it? Who do you want to make it?

Before preseason game 1, I liked Jerrett. That certainly didn't change after game 1. However, Montero has been with the team possibly giving him the inside track, but it's WAY too early to tell. I'm hoping it's Jerrett. Having a sweet shooting big man who isn't a doofus would be awesome.

Our announcers thought Stiemsma would be a natural replacement for Festus.

I'm keeping Montero over Connaughton....Connaughton has a curve ball to fall back on

Yeah I don't see Pat getting much of a chance with all the guards we have. I'd rather keep Montero over him as well. He has a more upside.

As for 15, it's gotta be a big man. With Festus and Meyers' health issues it's a no-brainer. I'm leaning toward Jarrett over Steimsma as well. It's really a tossup tho.

Jarrett all day long over Steinmsma....he's older than Lamarcus Aldridge I think..maybe 31? Jarrett is younger and has a lot of game

That is what I was just getting ready to write. I can read your mind.

I know exactly what everyone that is reading this post is thinking right now.

That I can not read minds. Right?

I'd put Connie as questionable as well, and say we have to pick two out of Quarterman, Connaughton, Montero, Jerrett, and Stiemsma. Considering the skill sets of our top 13, I'm thinking a big defensive oriented PG and a big with a jumper make sense. Assuming Quarterman is able to play a few minutes without looking terribly overmatched, I'd go with him and Jerrett.

Definetly Jerrett, Stiemsma could be nice but he's looking like Chris Kaman out there.

    Stiemsma is a stooge.

Jerrett has goob or dork potential, possibly goon, but may not make it to the 3-point-shooting-Patty Duke-hairband- wearing level like our beloved Meyers.

    The choice is clear.

Pat should head back to the diamond because the Orioles obviously could use some more pitching after tonight. Keep Montero over him as well as Jerrett.

What's with all this love for Montero, he hasnt shown much of anything since he's been here, albeit he hasn't had a lot of playing time during the season. He didn't show much during this and last year's summer league....connaughton has at least showed he can contribute...I think the Blazers keep connaughton and either Montero or Jarret with Stiesma being a long shot. Quarterman will not make it.

Ive been on the montero sucks bandwagon for awhile. Call it the qyntel woods dreamers. Plays versatile and has the size, but just isnt good enough for the nba (woods might have actually been good enough)

    Connaughton and jerrett for me.

Stiemsma was way too slow out there. Jerrett is at least a scoring threat to stretch the floor.

Montero looks pretty much the same, which is to say undisciplined on the floor. I give the slight edge to Connaughton just for his defense. Neither should take minutes from Napier.

I think they may be losing patience with Montero. Since Napier is looking good, seems no way they will keep Quarterman. Between Stiemsma and Jerret; that's tough. Seems like we have a lot of PF's, so I would think they might keep Stiemsma, who is a pretty intelligent player, something they value. However if Montero can clean up his turnovers in the rest of the pre-season, then him.

I think in the end Montero makes it. The other two (Jarrett, stiemsma) aren't that much better and Montero at least has some sort of upside and maybe more importantly, is a good locker room guy. Something like that could make the difference when there isn't much else separating the three.

    Right now my rankings are
    Jerrett > Montero >> Stiemsma > Quarterman

Looking forward to the next preseason game to reevaluate.

Agree that Quarterman is gone (unless there is a Dame/CJ/Napier injury in the next 2 weeks)

They have a lot of investment in Montero, so he's probably in the lead as far as the Blazers are concerned. However, even with his athleticism, shooting, and time in the league, he's still basically a streetballer.

Stiemsma is only interesting to me as a Ezeli replacement. I don't think we need an Ezeli replacement.... even if Ezeli is injured.
