The blazers have been 4-7 on the road this year with near-wins against the Spurs, Clippers and Kings. However, the blazers are just 1-4 at home this season. why are the blazers worse at home this season?
Because our go to guys other than Dame were in shooting slumps and everyone was caught out of position on defense early..we threw the ball too many times where guys weren't ready for it or even where they were supposed to be...turnovers....we've had so many road games from the start we had no home court practices after playing home games to work shit out.....9 new rotation players ...we've trotted out basically the same core for 4 straight seasons...this is like the season after Lamarcus bailed. We'll figure it out and be a changed team by all-star break....I've mentioned we are watching a season with possibly 3 different rosters by the time the playoffs come..it's awkward now and some expiring contract guys will not be on the team I predict come trade time...in fairness....Mo Harkless was famous for taking a few months to get in a groove the last few seasons....my view..patience…..it'll pass
Yeah, I was laughing so hard, I forgot to mention that I didn't see an option for "roster overhaul, takes time to gel and pressure is higher at home".
Good point about pressure...the new guys are joining a team that has been successful in the west for years...many have played in the eastern conf....they wanted to showcase an upgrade and early on seemed to be either hesitating to shoot...like Mario....or forcing shots early in the clock at the rim..Baze….Ant had a couple great shooting games early then when he started missing he stopped passing the ball...lot of empty possession with one guy touching the ball on offense considering we suck at second chance points
New guys trying to gel and be welcomed by the fans? I'm pretty sure pressure is higher at home for guys like Whiteside, Hezonja, etc. I could be wrong and maybe the difference is minute, but i'm thinking its considerably more at home. More time to think about things, etc. Road trips, i'm thinking players are just looking to rest when they can and not as much time to think about fitting in and playing well. Maybe @THE HCP has some insight as to whether there is a significant difference in pressure in front of home fans vs away when new and trying to fit in.
I heard they lock him out of the rooms on the road...somewhere there's a photo of him sleeping in a hotel hallway
I feel like the fans have not been patient or sufficiently welcoming with the new guys. This forum is a microcosm of that. we had a lot of enthusiasm for the first 1-2 games and then it plummeted. Now there’s so much panicking that home court has almost become a negative thing.
I think it has something more to do with they still havent had a home stand. Theyve only played 5 games at home. Most of their home games have basically been smashed in between road trips.
The Blazers have been bad at home because they've never had a homestead to get rolling in. The home games have been scattered throughout the season so far. We'll ultimately have a great home record. Not worried. We actually lost 6 straight home games in 2017-18 season and still finished with a good home record and the 3rd seed in the West. Be patient.
Your posts drip with self-righteousness. Also, if we're not being patient enough through 18 games, then why start a thread about us "sucking ass" at home after 5 home games?
I'm still cheering! I like all the new narratives...there's a lot of unfamiliar talent to watch develop and grow together ….this season is pretty much a cream rises to the top year.
Love all the Young guns top to bottom Ant, Skal, GJT, Little. I'd say the future is bright. Hard times now tho. Whiteside can't hold Nurks jockstrap.
Whiteside is really a rental in my view...Nurk is a beast..Skal and Zach are going to be better than Whiteside long term.
