Any chance we try to sign him to a new contract? He can create for himself and others. We need a slashing wing and he fits the right age. With our athleticism I can see us playing a very uptempo system which would fit him well. He is familiar with our staff, franchise and city. I just realized he is a restricted free agent though.
Thats not correct. Once their contract ends you're free to sign them. Its if theres a buyout but the old contract still hadn't ended the previous team can't sign them.
Sounds like Denver wants to keep him so I wouldn't bother. I was trying to think of younger players with upside at the 2/3 that can drive.
ESPN lists him as a restricted free agent http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/12307054/nba-free-agents-2015-2016
Actually, scratch that: they gave him a qualifying offer, so he is in fact a RFA. They can match any offer for him.
Still the right move. If we didn't move Will then CJ likely doesn't have the end of the season he had.
Screw hindsight, it was the right move, period. AAA didn't fit our starters, but he would have helped our much maligned bench. Deal with it, it was a good trade.
He said it was bad in hindsight, as in, the result was not good. He didn't help us much in his short stint, he's gone, and it'll cost us a 1st round draft pick down the line....so we gambled and lost. That doesn't mean it was a bad decision, but it did hurt the team.
