I've wanted the playoffs from the get go, but have thought of it as a pipe dream. The team sure seems to be playing better as a unit and certain players have really stepped up their game through the course of the season so far. I truly believe if we handle Toronto ( not some miracle shot win, like I predicted in the prediction thread) easily, we should be able to compete against the top half of the west. NO we wont be able to beat them all, but I think we can have a .500 record against the winning teams of the West. Combine that with dominating the lower half, and I think we can end up with the 6th seed. What say you?
Sorry, Man, but this is Premature E-Thread-Ulation. It is the 2 games against Houston which will say more about our playoff chances than the Toronto game. If we win both against Houston, and 1 of the other 2, then we're really in the hunt for a spot. My guess is that at some time Utah will pass us. Houston? If we win both, Houston may have a problem.
There needs to be another option like.... This will change nothing, and a lottery pick will strengthen our bench, but will not help us contend.
This is the 3rd game of a big 6 game roady for Toronto. It is also their 3rd game in 4 nights. No a win tonight means the Blazers did what they were supposed to do. A loss means the Blazers are much worse off than i expect.
FIFY. It's unlikely that a guard plays makes the rotation. Looking at the draft picks around 10 or 11 suggests we'll draft a big (like Poetl) who is even less likely to play in front of Vonleh or Biebs (unless we don't re-sign Biebs).
I did not realize that the 3rd game of a 6 game road trip with a day of rest and coming off a win.....was that tough for a team 9-1 in their last 10 games.
I don't even want to keep the pick. I'd like touse it to pick for another team and trade it for a big that can help now (like brook Lopez)
If it was the Blazers 3rd game in 4 nights, Barrett would mention it over and over. Doubt Toronto gets more than one casual mention of that.
I don't get the Brook Lopez appeal. He's always seemed soft and injury prone to me. He hasn't made his team very good, no matter who his teammates are.
Unless of course it's the Blazers on their 3rd game, and 3rd in 4 days. Then it's all understandable that the shots don't fall and the energy seems to be falling off right? I mean the Blazers shoot 3's so it's understandable that they would have an off shooting night on the road in an arena that is full almost always. I just did not know that the basic tendencies of "Homecourt" didn't apply to the Blazers..... If ever there was a time to take the Raptors it would be tonight after playing at home for well over a week now.
And I've thought we were a playoff team since I saw us play the Warriors in preseason. Nothing has changed. We may be half game out of 6th seed by All Star break. Dallas has tough schedule.
Because we need talent and he's a big who can put up 20/8. Obviously injuries are a red flag and the medical team would have to ok everything. Other than that, look throughout the league. Name a big, that would be somewhat obtainable, that you could likely get for a 11-14 pick and maybe a player? That's in the age range of our others of course. Kenneth Faried? Meh, I'd rather have what Lopez brings to our Team. Millsap would be perfect, but he's too old.
Pau Gasol. Joakim Noah. Supposedly both were on the block. Noah is a FA at the end of the year, and he's out for the rest of the year.
