Re: Williams: I'm The Best Point Guard In The League Read more: http://realgm.com/sr He's absolutely right at this point...he is dominating the Nuggets.
Re: Williams: I'm The Best Point Guard In The League Read more: http://realgm.com/sr I have no problem with this. It's between him and Paul, and Paul hasn't proven himself to be a winner.
Re: Williams: I'm The Best Point Guard In The League Read more: http://realgm.com/sr Paul is injured that is why Deron is so confident. The other guy has been seriously considered for two MVPs and DWill is not at that level. This season I'll give Williams credit though.
Re: Williams: I'm The Best Point Guard In The League Read more: http://realgm.com/sr It's clearly between him and Paul right now.
Re: Williams: I'm The Best Point Guard In The League Read more: http://realgm.com/sr It's funny - a few years ago people were slamming Marbury for saying he was the best even though he was averaging 20/8. Granted, he never had a history of winning, but that doesn't make Williams any less "cocky" for saying that.
Re: Williams: I'm The Best Point Guard In The League Read more: http://realgm.com/sr Yeah I remember that. The Knicks went on like a 20 game losing streak after that bold statement.
Re: Williams: I'm The Best Point Guard In The League Read more: http://realgm.com/sr Well, Marbury has his own history it wasn't just about that comment. But yeah I consider Dwill's statement as very arrogant, somewhat amusing.
That's BS to say the guy is arrogant for saying he's the best PG, just shows his confidence right now. Deron also says Paul and Nash probably think the same thing, it's just a mindset every player should have instead of thinking someone is better than them. Its obviously between Deron and Paul for the top PG spot anyways, but Deron has not only proven he can stay healthy but he has been able to carry the Jazz well into the playoffs a few times already while Paul is MIA yet again. Not only has he won in playoffs, Deron has had the best of Paul. Check it: http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/tiny.cgi?id=0HUlG
Well I don't think you want to use that website if you're a Deron fan. It indicates Paul is on another level at his peak. That kind of self-promotion isn't that common though. In his mind Steve Nash might think he's the best but I haven't heard him say that verbally. Being very arrogant isn't a huge diss either, I wouldn't take that too seriously.
I was just using the head-to-head comparison tool. If you look at it, Deron Williams has shot 14% better against Paul in head to head match-ups, while leading Utah to an 11-3 record vs. Paul's team.
Also is David West as good as Boozer? Utah has a nice little team. I don't think you want to make this a numbers game. On average who is better? It is true certain players prefer to face certain teams, but that's not all one should take into account.
So you are telling me that Paul shooting 14% worst than Deron in head to head match-ups is a result of Boozer being better than West? Deron Williams has been making Chris Paul his bitch ever since college, it's not hard to see that Deron has dominated the head to head match-up. Both teams go as their PG's go. You can't deny that. If you look at each of the teams since both PG's have come into the league, Utah have had more wins 3x while Hornets had more wins 2x. Last year Utah beat the Hornets 3 of the 4 times and Utah was missing all kinds of parts to their team last year with Boozer being one of the main guys out. In 3 of those 4 games, Deron outperformed Chris Paul. I agree that Paul does put up the better overall stats, but Deron has been able to stay healthier thus far in their careers, which is the difference IMO.
They've both played nearly the same amount of minutes, 13000 a piece. That health factor hasn't kicked in yet. Why does Paul have to beat Deron head-to-head though? He just has to be better overall in the regular and post-season. I think he's done that for the most part, he failed against the Nuggets last year but he was extremely dominant in his first post-season run and doesn't have great players around him. For example, Deron did not have a great sophomore season but he made it to the playoffs. The Jazz are simply better; Boozer, Millsap, Okur. Whereas West is a Millsap level player, and Peja/Chandler were injured or mediocre in Paul's last great season.
