According to Brian Wheeler on the post game show: Brendan Haywood FOR Rudy Fernandez Nicolas Batum 2nd Round Pick These are the types of trades it appears we're getting offered and it's why I'm not upset that we haven't made a significant trade to date...
Our SF of the future, who is our best perimeter defender already, with our best bench player for Haywood? He must think KP is a fool.
For a team that's in fire sale mode, that's a pretty laughable offer. Hey Ernie, your the one who is desperate, not us. BNM
We're looking for a stop-gap. I think KP ought to look elsewhere if Washington values Haywood this much. Troy Murphy, anyone?
Disgusting. Why are we getting low-balled when our team is not the one with only 12 wins? Who's the desparate one here?
Ernie's just trying to keep his job. Unfortunately, he needs a little more perspective in order to keep it.
Brutal. Haywood is "nice" but as much as I'd like to see a decent center added to this roster for the rest of the season (and maybe beyond?) this is just a horrific proposal. My guess is that the Wizards anticipate a lot of juicy offers for their core players and figure they might as well try and sell high if they can. Something tells me Grunfeld's tune will change as the deadline approaches. I tip my hate to EG for having a swinging pair of brass ones though.
I'd do one or the other ... well one really (the guy not named Nic), but both? I dunno, seems a steep price to pay for a guy who might be a half-season rental.
What about going after Kurt Thomas? That guy is still a great post defender even at his age, can play in a running system, and is extremely smart. Would you go straight up for him? What about Brandon Bass? He might fit in here well long term, a front-court of Bass/Aldridge/Oden/Pendergraph could work great and be extremely versatile long-term. Why didn't Orlando play him at all tonight?
