    Jun 7 - The Sixers also worked out Vanderbilt swingman Derrick Byars, Colorado State junior forward-center Jason Smith and Georgia Tech freshman forward Thaddeus Young. "This was a high-level workout," Maurice Cheeks said. "They got after it." Young and Smith have not hired agents and could return to college if they withdraw by the June 18 deadline. Smith, who averaged 16.8 points and 10.1 rebounds this season, says he has scheduled 16 workouts with NBA teams. ... Today, the Sixers will bring in Pittsburgh center Aaron Gray, 6-11 center Marko Lekic of Serbia, Southern Cal guard Gabe Pruitt, and Temple guard Dustin Salisbery. -- Philadelphia Inquirer

    # Florida's Corey Brewer and Florida State's Al Thornton will be put through their paces at the team's Waltham facility, as the C's proceed on the assumption they will still be holding the high pick in the June 28 draft. The two are among six prospects the Celtics have currently identified as possibilities at 5. Brandan Wright, Jeff Green, Yi Jianlian and Al Horford are the others. -- Boston Herald

    # The Bulls have a workout scheduled for Thursday with Georgia Tech point guard Javaris Crittenton, Georgia Tech small forward Thaddeus Young and Texas A & M point guard Acie Law. Next week, the Bulls will bring in Florida shooting guard Corey Brewer and Florida State small forward Al Thornton on Monday and DePaul small forward Wilson Chandler and Boston College small forward Jared Dudley on Thursday. -- Chicago Tribune

    # Florida center Joakim Noah and Washington center Spencer Hawes are scheduled to visit the Berto Center on Friday, which means they likely will go head to head on the court. Once that session is over, the Bulls' brain trust is planning to fly to Los Angeles for a private workout with Chinese 7-footer Yi Jianlian on Saturday. -- Arlington Heights Daily Herald

    # The Blazers will begin their workout schedule on Friday when Michigan forward Brent Petway, Fresno State forward Dominic McGuire and Virginia guard Sean Singletary take part in a two-hour session at the team's practice facility in Tualatin. -- The Oregonian

    # Arron Afflalo, an All-American who left UCLA after his junior season, has already performed for the Houston Rockets and is scheduled to work out Friday for the Lakers.
