Personally, I think this could be our most dynamic lineup: Oden LMA Rudy Roy Bayless Height, speed, shooting, and grit
Thing is, though, KP, Nate, and our other coaches have been so adamant/proud to state that many of our players play multiple positions almost interchangeably. Apparently, that's the new frontier in the NBA.
When you take a closer look at this we will only have above average hieght at PF and PG. Rudy is 6'5, Roy is 6'6/6'7 at the most. I personally would like us to develop Bayless more before he starts, which he won't be doing for quite some time according to Nate. The kid just cannot run our offense and with LaMarcus and Oden being our frontline players we need to get them going early in the game. Blake and Sergio are currently much better passers than Bayless. McMillan has commented how Blake can run the offense with his eyes closed/ in his sleep, he knows where each player must be and what every set entails and what to do when a play breaks down. Currently Bayless takes too long to get the offense set and when a play breaks down he goes 1 on 1 which isn't very good since the defense has had 7 or more seconds to get ready for him while he blotches the play. I wouldn't be against starting Rudy but i think him and Outlaw will be very benificial scorers off the bench and help keep the team in the game when one of the Big 3 is taking a breather. Bayless may start by the end of the year but I think its more likely that he'd become our defensive closer/good offensive pg at the end of games.
That is my favorite Blazer lineup once everyone is healthy. I just don't think Nate wants to start Rudy or Bayless but I have a feeling at the end of the season that will be our lineup. That's if we can keep Oden healthy.
That is my dream lineup..maybe put Marty in at the 3 once healthy and make Rudy/Travis super 6th men..sign me up
Our offense excells best when Blake is draining the outside shot. I would wait a few games before benching him. Rudy needs to come off the bench to give us that spark. I have no idea how far along Bayless has come. Eventually though there is no doubt in my mind he will start. But right now i would stick with Blake.
Usualy when you have a three-guard lineup, it's not three shooting guards. That being said, I think it's worth a try. Me, I wanna see a Sergio/Roy/Rudy/Frye/LMA lineup just outrun everyone. Long-distance shooting at 4 positions, speed to spare, no defense whatsoever, but you only have to score more points than the other team to win... Yeah, I know I'm
Eventually that'll be a good lineup but changing starting lineups constantly isn't good for a team. We're going to be seeing Blake/Roy/Travis/Aldridge/Joel for the next few weeks barring another injury.
Too bad Blake plays terrible defense an does nothing outside of hitting an open jumper. he doesn't have the athletic ability to attack the hoop. Now that Jack the scapegoat is out of the picture, people's vision should be clearer on Blake and that he is average at best.
I wouldn't like that line up, but it's better than the one Nate trotted out. I think either Blake or Rudy should start
Don't like it. It would work in certain instances where smaller matchups allow, but overall, size does matter. Think of the teams that have one a championship. Toughness and/or size advantage in the NBA is generally a big factor in winning it all. This line-up may get us to the Playoffs, but not to the end goal.
Which lineup are you referring to? Rudy and Roy in the back court or Bayless/Rudy/Roy? Because Rudy and Roy in the back court is a very big back court, one I see creating a lot of problems for other teams to match up with.
guessing he's refering to the OP... which is why I'm opposed to it as well. Rudy and Roy would both give up considerable size at 3 to the average starter. however I still think they'll end up the starting backcourt for the reasons you allude to. They are Portland's two best guards, have more then enough skills to cover the roles and their size/skills would create match up problems. STOMP
I'd go to war with that lineup. Here's my playoff rotation: Bayless, Roy, Webster, LMA, Oden, Blake, Outlaw, Rudy, & Joel. I don't want anyone else to play.
