It is and Intel 7600 series M.2 drive. Installed the Intel drivers instead of using the MicoSoft default drivers.
It results in an improvement in read speed by a whopping 110 megabytes per second.

Usually you want to go with the mfg driver rather than Microsofts standard drivers.
Best part of building a new PC is that first couple hours of installing drivers!

Though I believe that intel ssd is for laptops.

I think you are correct. But it works in a desktop board via a PCIe to M.2 adapter. The thing is 5 times faster than the ScanDisk or the HP SSD also in the system.
Actually, I have three other brands of SSDs in the system. All but Intel use standard Windows 10 drivers. So does the Intel, but it is way faster with the Intel driver.

For some data I use CF memory cards. Not for speed although they are fast enough. But they are damn near like permanent Storage. Like all the Navigation Charts are on one of these cards. So I can pluck it out of there, SATA adapter and all, plug it into
    another system, no trouble.
