For a half Saturday night, it appeared the Amarillo Venom might overcome the demons that have plagued them in a winless season.

Then came the disappointing second half.

The Venom offense disappeared in the final two quarters - a shoulder injury to starting quarterback Derek Rasmussen late in the first half didn't help - as the Allen Wranglers cruised past Amarillo, 44-20, before an estimated 1,800 fans at Cal Farley Coliseum.

The Venom, trailing only 23-20 at halftime, failed to score in the second half - totalling three-plays-and-out on three of four second half possessions.
