It isn't a final decision but the IOC's temporary suspension of wrestling from the summer games is truly baffling. Wrestling will need to pass a vote in order to make it to the Rio games, as will karate, while golf and speed walking are both safe from being removed. Sounds about right...

The UFC has had Olympic and Olympic-alternate athletes on the roster including two-time Greco Roman competitor Dan Henderson, silver medalist Matt Lindland, and alternate Randy Couture.

Wrestling, obviously, was part of the early athletic competitions in ancient Greece, from which the modern Olympics were spawned. Wrestling (I think) has been part of the program since 1896. Interestingly, Pankration, a blend of boxing and wrestling, was also part of the original games in 648 BCE. Pankration is the forefather of modern MMA.

Golf should be removed, the top guys don't even care about it. The olympics is basically the only place for top amateur wrestlers to showcase their stuff, it deserves a spot way more than golf.
